  1. If we trade Pie and Gallagher for him I will be very disappointed.
  2. This is a horrible idea. 1) The building is way to high. It should have a 5 story limit. 2) The people who would want to live there will not be able to afford it. 3) What kind of tourist would want to stay that far from downtown? Wouldn't it be easier to stay in the downtown area and simply travel to Wrigleyville to see the game? Side note...if the name changes will it still be called Wrigleyville?
  3. Actually, I could see it happening. We obviously need more than Murton, but that would make a lot of sense so...then we can forget about roberts and just go after bedard?!?!? \:D/ Why not have Khalil and Roberts\Bedard? i might explode with excitement if that could somehow actually happen... or poop the pants...one or the other... I thnk we are all missing the best part of the Rosenthal article!!
  4. Per Ken Rosenthal If they are interested in Murton doesn't a deal that nets us Greene make a lot of sense?
  5. I would be all for trading for Cabrera. As long as we then package Pie for Bedard or Blanton and then forget about the deal for Brian Roberts. Soriano, DeRosa, Lee, Fukudome, Ramirez, Cabrera, Soto, Theriot. Rotation would then be stellar as well, Z, Lilly, Bedard/Blanton, Hill, Marquis/Dempster.
  6. If the Sox are playing for this year, this is only a good deal for the White Sox if they trade either Konerko or Thome. I would say Dye but I think he is untradeable at this point. Konerko could be a good option for the Giants, Dodgers and Angels. Thome i'm not sure where he would fit, but I'm there would be interest in him. If they are looking at Swisher as a long term solution and a solid player to build around when Thome and Dye are done it makes more sense. But at this point in time KW still believes the Sox are contenders and he is flat out wrong about that.
  7. If Prior were to sign a 1 year deal with a team option for a second year would anyone here be upset?
  8. The Cubs should only look at two pitchers on the market right now. Colon and Clement. Both injury risks but hopefully we can sign them to the same deal we wanted Prior to take. If the pan out great if not we only waste like 3 mil. It is a low risk high reward proposition.
  9. Actually his career high is back in 2003. He put up some mischievous number back then. You missed the bolded part.
  10. Why would we trade that much for Cabrera. I would rather have offered Eckstein 1 year 5mil than trade for Cabrera. Eckstein is better offensively for his Career. Signing him would have also allowed us not to trade for Roberts. Soriano, Eckstein, Lee, Fukodome, Ramirez, DeRosa, Soto, Pie would have looked good to me. However, rather than trading or signing a marginal upgrade at SS I would rather take spend the money on a risk on Colon or Clement and then just let Theriot and Cedeno figure out who gets the job out of spring training.
  11. Who is the 4th? I would think it would take Colvin or Vitters. But hopefully someone like E-Pat.
  12. If we trade Pie who plays CF? Fuld? Sign Cameron or Lofton? Fukodome in CF and Murton in RF? A rotation of Zambrano, Bedard, Lilly, Hill would be pretty dominant. I'd love to do it, however, we must first get a Bedard to sign an extension.
  13. IF we can get Bedard without giving up Pie or Hill i'm all for it. Think they would bite on Murton, Marshall, Gallagher, and a 4th?
  14. So that first list that was fake. So much for reliable contacts.
  15. Maybe Prior just wanted a fresh start somewhere new. The expectations for him have been ridiculous since 2003. Let him go somewhere new where there are no expectations where the fans will be happy if he is healthy and can pitch 200 innings with an ERA of 3.8. The majority of Cubs fans would not be happy with that, they want Prior of 2003 back and it is very likely that he will never return. IMO that is why he left.
  16. oh it does. it's not that hard to understand that a poor offensive guy can have a positive net impact if his glove is good enough. There is no way that someone who has not had an OBP above 290 since 2004 should be a regular on a major league team, i don't care how good his glove is.
  17. Adam Everett should have been out of the job even without the Tejada trade. adam everett is leaps and bounds ahead of theriot. hes an average shortstop. yes average, not bad. basically who is the taller midget? They are both utter garbage. did you not read half of my post?h No reason to be rude. He was mearly stating his view that he thinks they are both garbage. There is no reason for him to take your opinion as fact.
  18. Fukodome seems to not want to prefer the West Coast however the team that is most interested, Padres, does not have enough money. So I suggest we make a deal with that team and get Khalil Greene and Brian Giles. I think we may be able to do it for Murton, Marshall, and Theriot, however, more players may have to be included. The reason I think it may work with those three is because by taking on Giles contract we will give them enough money to sign Fukodome. Plus the dropoff from Giles to Murton is not that drastic. That would give the Padres an OF of Murton, Fukodome, and Bradley and they would get another solid starter in Marshall. For those of you concerned Giles hit about 300 with an OBP of about 370 and an OPS of 870 away from Petco. I believe this deal would help both teams substantially.
  19. It looks like part of the fallout of the big trade is that the Tigers now want to get rid of some of their excess salary. The players being discussed are Willis and Pudge. http://www.wfan.com Just thought this was interesting.
  20. that's not gonna happen. They get 2 #1 draft picks next year if they don't trade him. Those teams have to be able to beat that. And quote Frankly, that is a big part of the reason Santana probably will not get traded. Plus it is better PR to say they didn't trade him because they were still hoping they could sign him to a long term deal if/when he leaves the following offseason. In order to trade him the Twins will have to get more back than the two draft picks. Which no team wants to give up since they will have to pay him 20 mil a year for atleast 6 years.
  21. So If the Red Sox get Santana and with this trade it is pretty clear who the two best teams in baseball will be next year. My big question is how does this affect what teams like Cleveland, Yankees, Blue Jays, White Sox, and Orioles do this offseason? Does this force the White Sox to sign Andruw Jones? Or the Blue Jays to trade away some of their prospects? Or the Indians to try to go out and get another ace caliber pitcher? This one deal alone changes things a lot.
  22. Jacque Jones has to be the happiest man on the face of the earth.
  23. Peter Gammons this morning, on Mike and Mike, suggested the Red Sox will offer Crisp, Lester, and a minor leagure (Chad Lowrie I think) for Haren if they do not get Santanna.
  24. After seeing this deal wouldn't you assume this will only help to increase Marmol's trade value right now. If Hendry were smart he would trade high for once. I would like to believe that a package of Marmol and Theriot should be more than enough to land Johnny Peralta.
  25. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Just to get this straight the Angels have spent 140 mil for 5 years on two CFers. Neither of these CFers give you much offense as well. Horrible, horrible contract.
