  1. Hill is out of options. Assuming he's the one leaving to make room, he'll be going to a different organization. Hill, Isturis, Eyre, Jones and Murton for Griffey? :D I WISH....but i heard the report Levine is giving that if izturis is traded then Ronny will be recalled from Triple A Is this the same Hendry that was there when Baker was there? I love what Lou and JH have been doing lately. Lou has really been a revelation. This appears to be the kind of team Lou was hoping he'd get when he went to Tampa. One with a good mix of veterans and rooks.
  2. How so? Noah's athletic and his offensive game lacks polish. He isn't athletic as guys like Wright, or Yi. His offensive game may lack polish, but he is NBA ready in terms of Defense and rebounding. Yi declined the combine so we don't have numbers for him, but Noah tested out higher than Wright ranking 43rd overall versus 61st overall for Brandon. Columns in order are PLAYER, NO STEP VERTICAL, MAX VERTICAL, BENCH PRESS, LANE AGILITY, 3/4 CRT SPRINT, OVERALL RANK Joakim Noah 32.5 37.5 12 11.79 3.47 43 Brandan Wright 30.5 35.5 2 11.76 3.31 61 It'd take those stats with a grain of salt. Noah is 22 Wright is 19. Wright is going to get a lot stronger and if his bench were the same as noahs it'd be a draw.
  3. just amazing how many people in this world who find employment with no qualifications other than being a hoochie. Everyone needs a job Who am I to judge? I bet you Cabrera hass hit on them all...

  5. if only there was a nsbb obsessed weather man to clue us in to the likelihood of Cubs baseball tonight. It will be fine tonight. The VOR will be ten rows back of the Cubs dugout surrounded by beautiful and adoring women. No way it rains on his parade. If i was surrounded by beautiful women I would have no problem if it poured. With that said my girlfriend is going to the game...I hope she isn't around you. PM me her cell phone number. I'll make sure your little lady has an enjoyable evening. She's 6'5" 270. You think you can handle her? Remind me not to eat at your brothers restaurant if that is going to happen to me. Well you are already 6'5" so all you gotta do is put on about 90 lbs. I think you can manage that all on your own.

  8. Something is going to happen soon because Hendry also said that Theriot will not be sent down. Jones' time may be really limited. Yup-with Lou's insistence that Pie will not be sent down, that only leaves Pagan and Jones, and with his versatility I'm sure management doesn't want to see Pagan down for 10 days at least. Yeah, I don't see that happening either. This might be it folks. Jones might be a goner by tonight. This could be a great day in Cubs History.
  9. the big news is...we are in the process of getting Griffey and they plan on Keeping Pie in center and putting floyd in left and Griffey in RF. Then put Soriano at 2b. Lou is just planning ahead.
  10. I've always loved Griffey. Simply for the fact that he is the best player of his generation. I think he is better than Bonds, and it is pretty clear that he has never been implicated in any of the same things Bonds has. I'd love to see Griffey hit 600 in a Cubs uni. We can rotate Pie, Griffey and Floyd. WE have about 100 games left. I'd want Griffey and Pie to play 80 a piece and Floyd to play the other 40. Griffey may be a great influence on Pie as well.
  11. I love ties. +1 UMFan
  12. Should we start a "curse of the McDonalds commercials"? First Pierre, now Barrett. Next Big Z...
  13. I guess McDonalds now has to get rid of all of the Barrett commercials. My bet is Piniella wanted this trade to happen. Just a hunch though.
  14. According to ESPN Barrett traded to Padres...but still don't know for what. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2910079 Edit: Just beat
  15. Every union in the country is anti-testing. The MLBPA is about the strongest union there is. They were not going to allow testing until the public demanded it and congress got involved. I personally don't agree with unions helping their members to break Federal Laws but I can understand why they would do it. You would think the Union would want to help protect the law abiding players who would have been the stars of the league had it not been for the few players that decided it was neccessary to take steroids to become the best. I just thought the point of a union was to protect the majority not the minority.
  16. Lou was saying the right things during spring training, and although he isn't Baker-bad with his love for veterans he's close to it. A good manager would not allow Jones or Izturis in the lineup, period. Both of them bring absolutely zero to this team. Unfortunately, I get the impression this is more the norm for managers than the exception. Especially ex-players. I think the problem isn't neccesarrily with Lou. I think it more has to do with Hendry's unwillingness just to cut these players. If Hendyr isn't going to cut them you have to play them in order for them to have any value on the trade market. Jones is the biggest problem right now because he is actually taking up playing time that Murton deserves. Seeing as this is Izturis last year on his contract, I don't see the difference between not playing him more than once a week or cutting him. Will still cost the team the same amount of cash.
  17. Yes, they used steroids and other drugs between 1991 and 2004 That was tongue in cheek. Of course using the drugs between 1991-2004 was "wrong," my point is that MLB never outlawed the drugs until recently. Why is that? your point was wrong. steroids were specifically made against the rules in 91 there were just never any penalties or testing until recently That is just absurd. How can you make a rule like that and not check for it. That has to be the dumbest thing i have ever heard in my life. Are people really that naive to believe just because it is illegal people won't do it if there is no ramifications if they break the rule?
  18. This is bogus. NO way should Giambi be suspended for not cooperating!! They cannot force him to rat out other players which is what they are trying to do. The players union will fight this to the end if they try to suspend him for this and they will probably win. First of all, what good does it do to figure out who was using 'roids before they were officially illegal. The league needs to keep its steroid policy in place and forget about what happened in the past and just try to clean up the future. If Giambi does cave in to this, I really hope he is blackballed by the other players. This would show that Giambi has no class and no respect for the other players. You never rat out a friend or a comrad for your own personal gain, because odds are they are still going to #### you and you will never be trusted again.
  19. I've never thought Barret was the answer behind the plate. He is good offensively, but he can't call a game and the pitchers don't seem to have confidence in him. Barrett is nothing more than a backup catcher/part time 1b/fulltime DH in the AL. Teams like Oakland, Orioles, and the Angels should be looking at him very hard.
  20. as fred posted earlier, babip .171 in the last 30 games If that is the case you have to expect that things will turn around. It is veyr unlikely that his babip will stay there. Jones will still not be a good fit now with Floyd and Murton back and healty. But you have to agree his luck is just terrible. He needs to go to a place like SD or LAA, basically anywehre on the west coast so he is far from the Cubs.
  21. I don't understand what the big deal is about getting yelled at in public for making a mistake. When I screw up at work my boss yells at me and everyone knows. Heck even if Lou did yell at them in private the media would know. Who cares how he does it. These guys are making stupd stupid mistakes and need to be held accountable. At least Lou isn't saying it isn't his fault for the players not knowing the basics. He saying they need to know the basics and wants them to learn. I even bet he and his coaches preach the basics. Lou has definitely been handcuffed by Hendry. If the Cubs played in the AL our lineup would be a lot better. You wouldn't have 4 guys pressing everytime they get to play in the two open outfield spots for fear of losing their jobs. If you ask me Lou is trying to get too fancy or be too nice with the vets. He needs to tell Floyd and Jones that Pie and Murton have won the two OF spots. Pie is kind of by default because he is the only good defensive option at CF and Murton because he is the best offensive OF next to Soriano. I know he may not provide power but he provides other attributes that are a great for a team. You never, and I mean never complete a bench with a group of aging vets. Especially ones who want/think they should be starting. That is handcuffing Lou.
  22. The guys who seem to be making the majority of the "mistakes" are the ones who seem to be fighting for playing time. Maybe if we didn't have an over abundace of RFs and MIFs who want playing time, and thus aren't trying to do too much, Lou would be able to have a manageable team.
  23. If Portland were to trade the pick they should trade it for garnett. Miles, Randolph and Oden for Garnett and the 7th pick. Portland would have Aldridge, Garnett, Roy and Jack all for sure starting then whoever they draft at 7 could be teh new SF...Jeff Green would be a perfect fit. I don't think they should trade the pick. Oden, Aldridge, Roy and Jack is a great nucleus as well. Just won't win right away.
  24. Big surprise tomorrow is.... Kerry Wood is completely healthy and will be moving into the rotation. Seriously, what is the surprise going to be?
