  1. Even if? I was pre arguing with the argument that you'd have to give up one of Bryant or Baez to get a stellar starting OF or something like that. Meaning I still think with all the other guys we have we could net a pretty good player to fill a gaping hole in our OF. That's what I meant.
  2. The FO has the pieces to add quality MLB starters. They could easily go that route of adding NOW, rather than waiting yet another year. Even if you wanted to keep Bryant and Baez there are are handful of quality and even a couple expendable top 100 types in our farm right now where we could easily trade for a good young starting OF or even SP. But the FO won't go that route.
  3. Javy up to .221. I think his low point was .139 around 2 and a half weeks ago. things thingies I read are eerily familiar with some other year, I can't remember which.
  4. MAYBE Lake. And Bonefocio when he plays CF. We need to trade Barney. 1B Rizzo 2B Valbuena SS Castro 3B Olt LF Manny CF Bonefocio RF Lake Would be a huge improvement. I'm joking of course but that's how terrible our OF is.
  5. Why don't we just bring Manny up? He's a better hitter than all of our OF. (kidding, we need Manny down there teaching Javy to be Javy).
  6. Lot of mocks having the Marlins go Jackson have kinda made me warm up to the idea of drafting him. Grass is always greener and all that, and the possibility of him not even falling to us makes me want him to fall now. Especially after hearing he was comparable to Bryant in HS. You gotta take someone with that type of elite power bat potential. I think I'm leaning toward Kolek or Jackson. Whoever drops you gotta take em because I feel both their ceilings are so much higher than the rest. I like Gordon, Nola, and Pentecost all for different reasons. But if you are drafting at the top and "tiers" matter. Jackson and Kolek are in that tier above.
  7. I had a really old broken down couch I could have donated to the Cubs if they really needed more. It was broken down but damn if it wasn't comfortable. I miss it. Stupid firm new couches.
  8. You still had faith in baseball fandom?
  9. I honestly think he needs to bulk back up. Put him on the CJ Edwards diet. It should take him a day.
  10. I think I'd be fine with any one of Jackson, Gordon, Pentecost, or Nola. And of course Aiken if he dropped.
  11. The "close"ness. Is he talking Boston or Pitt? Because he mentioned Boston then threw in some "Pitt" guys. Maybe that was just referencing the league's thought on "his cost". He said the price is an A prospect, an MLB starter and young pitching prospect.
  12. Yeah it's about time. I want to see the jumbotron and most of the signage next year, so they can stop using the revenue excuse when they sign absolutely nobody of signifigance.
  13. Is his OBP on the right side of .300 yet? .303 baby.
  14. if he continues to get this much attention we might not be able to underslot him (Pentecost).
  15. Bretts the guy that's nice with everyone. Even the assholes.
  16. Get that man some eye drops!
  17. Yeah I feel pretty strongly about that also. Question, what is the order of likely hood of each falling, and which one would take if he fell? IMO likely fall, Kolek, Rodon, Aiken in that order. Which one would I take? Honestly I only know what MLB.com's snippet tells me, so not enough to actually scout them. But I'd think I'd want Rodon just because of age/closeness to MLB. I posted the BA reports on Aiken, Rodon, Kolek, Jackson, Gordon and Freeland on page 47. I read them, sorry I should have mentioned that. I still don't think I know enough. I was an early Kolek lover but I think because of the closeness to MLB is why I'm a bit more in the Rodon camp. Any of them falling to us would be great and we should probably pick whoever does. But Jackson is intriguing enough to make me kinda consider him over HS pitchers.

  19. Well not all 2nd round picks but most. So what is Javy's line today. A HR (or an exciting hit, don't know what "JAVY!" means exactly) and a BB?
  20. Yep, I'm already very wary of pitchers and this season's rash of TJS has not helped. I think I'd take Aiken if he were there but I might prefer Jackson to him even (and I definitely prefer Jackson to Kolek and Rodon). A top 5 pick is so valuable and draft success is so volatile; I'd rather not add the additional risk of pitcher injuries to it. I don't even know who I want, I'll just let the FO figure this one out. What do you think of Freeland? Jackson over him?
  21. He certainly should scoot into the top 10 at least.
