  1. I hope this new guy we acquired can, Russell up some success.
  2. can't wait to watch Ten live (if I can stay up after my midnight shift). Hopefully Russel and Soler are in the line-up. Really looking forward to seeing Russell's debut as a Cub.
  3. They'll get over it by next spring, but I imagine there are some really pissed off players in the Cubs' locker room right now. Yeah, Bryant and Baez will make them forget. :)
  4. http://m.mlb.com/video/v34335559/toroak-samardzija-arrives-in-oakland-meets-media/?query=jeff+samardzija Definitely took a couple shots at the Cubs. Judging from that press conference, I underestimated his desire to leave. No shots taken at the Cubs. The only desire I see from that PC was for the team he was playing for to be trying to win. That's all he's been saying this whole time. Shark's just has the balls to say the things most players are thinking. It's the FO job to build for the future, but a player's desire to win now.
  5. every time i watch a non-cubs game, i remember how lucky we are to have len. Yeah, I have EI and watch a lot of games, and 90% of the broadcast teams out there are hot garbage compared to ours. There are a select few great ones, some decent ones and a lot that are horrible. Vin Scully is one of the greats. But it's nice to have one of the better broadcast teams to listen to, for sure.
  6. EVERYONE STEP RIGHT UP, WE'VE GOT YOUR PROSPECTS, WE'VE GOT YOUR SHORTSTOPS, WE'VE GOT YOUR OUTFIELDERS. EVERYONE'S GOT TO GO, STEP RIGHT UP!
  7. in the hypothetical world that we are trading for Stanton. The guys I'd let go are Baez, Almora, CJ Edwards, Pierce Johnson. Not as comfortable losing but still ok to part with Soler and Alcantara. Not all of them mind you. They are just the guys in the top 10 I don't mind losing. I really want to see Bryant and Russel stay with the Cubs. And to a lesser extent I favor guys like Alcantara and Soler over Almora and Baez.
  8. About a year ago Theo's quote to a reporter was something like, give me 9 shortstops and I'll field you a team. It was maybe a response to positional depth with Castro already at SS. I guess he REALLY meant it.
  9. I'm not arguing that and I certainly am not complaining about the Russell portion of it - if we could get him, we needed to do it. I guess I wanted more out of the 2nd and 3rd pieces, though. The 2nd piece is the 1st round pick of a very smart organization in 2013 and is better than Almora right now. I don't see how you can't be happy with adding a Bryant and Almora + level talent. Hammel was probably insisted on by Beane in order to pull the trigger on giving up his 2012 and 2013 first round pick. Then you add a reclimation project for Bozio with a wipeout sinker and probably a decent PTBNL. This is about as amazing as you could have expected a return to be. Russel is the crown jewel but the others aren't as boring as you make them out to be.
  10. So ofcourse, you're doing it, right? I've had the blessing of not feeling the need this time.
  11. checking in late with my reaction. http://replygif.net/i/528.gif
  12. Tiny penis. I see a mouse head. A piece of pizza with bubes. A broken heart.
  13. So roughly $100k left for anyone else still out there? Not sure if you mean on top of the 100,000 max on 11-40 or not. But we gave 3B Kevonte Mitchell 200,000. So about 115,000 is all we can offer a guy. I think we're done. Which is fine. I'm fine rolling the dice on a guy like Cease, even if it required 1.5. Great draft!
  14. Maybe they should change his name from AlCANTra to Al CAN . . tra. . uh wait.
  15. Maybe he's talking about Olt's eyes. You guys must have missed the edit. I was the first responder, I didn't miss the edit. I was just trying to tell a story with a humorous climax.
  16. Maybe he's talking about Olt's eyes.
  17. thowse widduw adowabow dowbuws.
  18. you'd be better off doing what your avatar is doing.
  19. Hendry's "guys" had a direct effect on getting us. .. without Hendry's guys we wouldn't have Edwards, Ramirez, Rizzo, Castro, Baez, and whatever we will get for Shark. The FO has added exponentially but Hendry's farm is what got Shark, Garza, Cashner, Castro and Baez. And those guys turned into some very important pieces of our rebuild. A rational mind would say, well this FO has been good but thank you Hendry for having some of the pieces that turned into what appear to be core players on our next competitive team.
  20. Speaking of BJax, why does he get less playing time in the OF than Vitters? Is he really that much less of a "prospect" than Vitters at this point? I don't have the hitting #'s but when you see them, they are not pretty.
  21. yeah those were dark days. At the peak of BJax's prospect days, when he was our #1 prospect, where would he fit in our current top 10? A 21 year old CF that put up .316/.420/.517 in A+ and then .276/.366/.465 in AA? He's be pretty highly regarded even in the current system. Or to be more specific (like TT) somewhere in the 3-6 range... Maybe valued similarly to Almora or maybe just a tad higher?
  22. Don't forget Correa relative to Buxton. *ducks* That one is fine. I think Correa will be a stud. I didn't know how I felt about the whole position player at the top strategy but understand it quite well now.
