  1. So then you have no problem with the fact that the NFL only waited until after the video was leaked to impose stiffer punishments? You have no problem that the Ravens waited until after the video leaked to terminate Ray Rice's contract? what? no, of course i'm not ok with their deplorable non-reaction to this. but i'm certainly not going to complain that public outcry forced them to get it right My complaint is that there was no public outcry before Monday's leak. Were you in a coma?
  2. The thing is that the video doesn't show anything we didn't already know. It doesn't change the narrative of the assault at all. How come "Ray Rice" was only trending on twitter after the video leaked? How come the congressional letter to the NFL was only crafted after the video leaked? How come this story is now the front page story of every mainstream media outlet only after the video leaked? We're all indicting the NFL and Goodell for only taking severe action after seeing a video depicting what we already knew. But then why aren't we doing the same with the media, and really, the general public as a whole? http://www.xclusivetouch.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/confused-gif.gif
  3. I'll remain skeptical until he pitches his first game as a Cub. I remain skeptical until he pitches the final pitch for the final out in game 7 of the World series in which the Cubs win. Game 7? I want a cakewalk in 5 games, tops.

  5. And we talked about going to a partial package for this season, but ended up getting the full one and donating a bunch of the games to charities. Obviously the write-off isn't near face value, but it helped take a lot of the sting out of a crappy season where nobody wanted to buy tickets.
  6. hubris Pretty much; "absolute power corrupts"...blah-blah-blah. He's a dumb meatball who figured a declining name player shouldn't have to take any kind of major hit for "just" hitting a woman.
  7. Nah, we've done full packages both years, but yes, you have the option of changing your ticket package (and seat location and number of seats) between each season.
  8. Rather ironic that the NCAA likely pulled the Penn State punishments when they did because of all the heat coming down on the NFL.
  9. It depends. Reading in text it sounds bad, but I didn't see the TV show so I don't know the context. For all we know he could have been breaking down the play on film on TV and showing who should be where. He could have also assigned some fault on the play to himself and that quote wasn't included in the tweet. The bold is exactly what he was doing.

  12. "Hey guys, it's 1999 I just won Assistant Coach of the Year again and I'm only 55 and super respected and beloved and expected to take over for Paterno but I'm totally gonna retire out of nowhere and it has absolutely nothing to do with the investigation of me and the sexual abuse of a child that just happened. That's cool, right?" Yup, you're the man, feel free to hang around the program until I die, I'm not so sure people can really rape people, or maybe they can, but I think I'm a butterfly. http://media.tumblr.com/1c05bff4c0c089cd638234b7adc8953d/tumblr_inline_mo8zok5E891qz4rgp.gif

  15. Not sure what he had to argue about there looked right down the middle on the upper half of the strike zone but all ofhe plate. Maybe Baez needs glasses lol Well, he can't hit under lights.
  16. This is absurd; there's zero reason for the NCAA to have waited when what was already known was beyond the pale in terms of how horrifying and indefensible it was. Due process was effectively a technicality by the time Sandusky went to trial, and the NCAA had scores of information, much of it provided by the authorities, to act.
  17. Castillo 3-3; just knocked Baez in with a double.
  18. Valbuena just took a "fastball" to his right wrist. Looks to be OK for now.
  19. Baez has been on base all 3 times tonight. Just go with it.
  20. Additional warning signs from Bungalow Billiards nachos: a bunch of the chips were those terrible red ones.
  21. It's Coors, right?
  22. you don't want the NCAA involved in punishing member organizations that systematically enable sexual abuse? Not until due process has ran its course, no. Why? And especially why the [expletive] not in this case? Because I'm not convinced the football program had anything to do with it, really. I'd like to hear the admins defense, make my judgements after that. Basically, I just think everyone deserves their day in court before we go around tar and feathering an entire university. Unless this is looked at as a prolonged cover up/ignoring of the issue specifically done to protect the football program and the school and as such the school should be punished from benefiting from that program as much as they've come to expect. There's WAY too much smoke with this going back to Sandusky suddenly going from heir apparent to being on the outs in '99 after the initial investigation, yet him retaining all kinds of special privileges from the school and on campus. This wasn't a surprise when it finally blew up.
