I don't really think he did all that much and that's what he was apologizing for to begin with. All he really did was acknowledge Bernstein's comment in his response where he was just continuing to say she sucks at her job (which she absolutely does). He didn't even piggyback onto them in anyway, just referenced what he said. Come on, David. Yeah, "I can't share in your appreciation of this person's huge boobs" is totally validated because he oafishly mentions he thinks she sucks at her job. Wait, why is it oafish to say someone on TV who is terrible at their job is bad at their job? Yes, could've done without the first reference but hardly worthy of a public apology on its own IMO. Again, though, there were subsequent Tweets where he went further where I understand that it was warranted. It's oafish because it's a bit of attempted ass-saving; he was self-aware enough to realize he better throw in a shot at her job performance to "justify" the boob talk, but he's too much of a failure to begin with to not be a little sycophant to the de-facto boss slobbering over a colleague's boobs.
