  1. Plus the people complaining about the loss of "strategy" always ignoring that a game of Battleship with a hole in the middle has more strategy.
  2. But seriously, yes, I would like to have it as an option to keep a player like that who can still give you value with the bat and you don't have to risk breaking them down quicker by having them play the field. Obviously everyone is glad they got Bryant in hindsight, but at the time they let him go because of his age and the assumption his value would drop sharply, largely due to him having to man 3B as he got older. In the future, I'd like them to have the option to hold on to, say, Soler or Bryant a few years past what would be ideal if they had to keep playing defense but could still give you value with the bat.
  3. The DH had nothing to do with Aramis heading elsewhere. He would've just cost us Kris Bryant. Shut up and let me rant, you walking fart.

  5. More dongs = more good. Aramis could have ended his career as a Cub if we had this, you DH-hating monsters.

  8. Imagine when we fast-forward to later in the season when Soler and Russell teach us how to love and laugh again.
  9. Yeah, I don't care about anything "political;" it's just a really boring and needlessly somber moment in the middle of what's supposed to be a fun game.
  10. It's been a thing for 14 years Not "we're not going to commercial and please rise and remove your hats and salute the flag" like that was. For the record, he said face the flag, not salute it. This is the GAME thread, not the POLITICS thread. I would be most grateful if we could all take our political opinions and store them at body temperature and out of direct sunlight. Thanx. It's whether or not people like the song/moment as part of the stretch. It's little different than the discussions we've had about guest conductors singing in the 7th.
  11. It's been a thing for 14 years Not "we're not going to commercial and please rise and remove your hats and salute the flag" like that was. It just depends on the team/broadcast. Plenty have been showing it over that time, sadly. It's tedious, but it's not new.
  12. He's not horrible, but the Bulls are better with Niko. So play Niko. He's very far from horrible. And he's not blocking Mirotic.
  13. This is stupid, I want the Cardinals at their worst. It's like people who talk about the Cubs winning the WS dramatically in game 7. I'd much rather have a boring 4 game sweep.
  14. why would you do something like that only sometimes i know he said he might go back and forth, but it never made much sense to me. either you think it's a smart thing to do or you dont YAY ADDISON!!!!! I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me regardless. it makes sense the benefit is marginal even over 162 games but it definitely makes sense I'm sure it does; I'm just easily baffled and at the moment it's mostly annoying.

  17. I thought the pitcher batting 8th was a thing he'd do sometimes.
  18. Does it? People seem to talk about it like it's split down the middle, but most leagues either use it as the AL does or some version of it for a long, long time now. If anything, the NL is an outlier to how the game changed decades ago.
  19. This is a weird sentence. Imagine if they did ridiculous things like changing how the ball is wound, or the height of the mound, or something REALLY outlandish like hitting home runs.
  20. No, just pitchers. If the basic idea offends you so much, why are you OK with pitchers being pitch hit for?
