The odds are still more in favor the next guy, a good hitter, tying it up after you've willfully put the tying run on base, than Goldschmidt tying it up with a HR. I wouldn't have been opposed to walking Goldschmidt, but going after him isn't a bad idea, either.

He's undergoing a little babip correction, it's not like he's been exposed and is up there flailing helplessly or something. And it's not like we were going to get a .900 OPS out of him regardless. Right; he's not THIS bad, and he's not as good as he was earlier (either this season or in his career), but some are overstating just a bit how much bad luck he's hitting into right now.
