    That is more than likely vs. LHP only. Russell is out with a Groin Strain and is Day 2 Day. That is more concerning for me as he has been very good as of late. But he is also 2 cool 2 B 4gotten.

    So you bump Coghlan out? Hell no. I asked yesterday and Baez has hit lefities better than righties in the minors; since Coghlan is sitting against LH pitchers anyway it shouldn't be hard to give Baez some time and see if he can someone not be a nightmare at the plate.

    Did you read the whole article? The idiot goes on to write: It read like he was trying his hardest to not say that the Cubs are the team the Giants are chasing for the WC, like he knew this was a terrible article, but he was still going to write it, dammit.

    I'm still kinda terrified of the Cubs settling for re-signing Fowler as being all that they should do with the OF for next season. He's countering being REALLY bad for a while by being amazing, which really skews what the hell to expect out of him going forward, plus I'm still wary about how his defense is suddenly rated as being a lot more tolerable this season. I wouldn't mind bringing him back if it went along with, say, signing Heyward (or Cespedes) and trading Soler, but just going forward with Schwarber, him and Soler all but locked in as the OF would make me a little nervous. Smart people anticipated that his defense could be significantly improved. Still would prefer them spending the money on a better player like Cespedes, or a younger and better player like Heyward. Basically it all comes down to how tied up they are money-wise, and how much of their available payroll re-signing Fowler would eat up.

    That's not just a "right now" scenario; that should be the scenario for as long as they have him, and trying to stick him at catcher ends up pulling his bat out of the lineup more than if he was in LF.

    At this point? Yes. Not because of talent-level, but who knows what they do in the offseason. If they, say, bring Fowler back then I doubt it.
