  1. Back? They're, like, last or almost dead last when it comes to getting a guy in from 3B with less than 2 outs. Someone respectable posted that a week or two ago; something like 42%. Not just that, but getting big HITS with multiple runners on base. It happened a ton in August when we were scoring runs in bunches, and the past few weeks, not so much. I don't give a [expletive] about that; that's going to fluctuate all the time. The bigger problem is stranding what are basically gimme runs, and they were doing that at an above average rate even when they've been scoring runs in bunches.

  3. FFS. How is this team so [expletive] bad with a guy on 3rd.
  4. He's in, like, a 5 game slump right now. What the [expletive] are you talking about.
  5. [expletive], EVERYONE STOP SUCKING IN THESE SITUATIONS.
  6. Hahahahaah! God, this ump [expletive] sucks/thanks blue.
  7. Why wouldn't they? Arrieta's been getting those calls all game.
  8. Oh God; his numbers over the last 28 days are barftastic.
  9. I desperately want Jake to at least pitch a CG because of weak [expletive] like this.
  10. Just load the bases; a man on 3B with less than 2 outs is the Cubs' super pressing Kryptonite.
  11. I just tried to bend myself like Jake did in that clip and I had a fart attack.
  12. Nah; they can win the rest of them after this one.
  13. Also: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--oGZDT6hR--/1449401048052900390.jpg
  14. Hasn't the narrative on Harper for most of his career been basically, "this guy needs to scale it back a bit before he kills himself running into a wall or imploding on the basepaths?" And Puffyface Magoo is going to chew him out for not running out a pop-up?
  15. Well, [expletive], guess I should still go into the September Other Games thread. I thought that thing was useless now.
  16. As if Bryce Harper wasn't already sexy and awesome enough, here he is battling with Jerkface Papelbon after he gave Harper some meatball nonsense after not running out a pop-up: http://deadspin.com/jonathan-papelbon-and-bryce-harper-brawl-in-nationals-d-1733270056
  17. Me too, which is why I'd much rather have the ability to execute them in a single blow with Arrieta.
  18. Both, though it looks like he narrowed the night/day gap.
  19. Based on my completely unscientific gut reaction, right now I'd rather they face the Pirates. 2-3 weeks ago it would have been the Cardinals, no question, but it feels like in that time their pitching has started giving up a lot more runs to decent teams, while the Pirates' pitching seems stronger going in to the playoffs. VOTE NOW.
  20. What the [expletive] are the stupid Pirates going to figure out about him in this start that they couldn't in the others? They're just dumb slabs of meat before him.
  21. i sort of understand this as the Cubs are less effective offensively against lefties (right?) and the Cubs more often than not struggle against Liriano and it allows them to set up their rotation for the NLDS if they win with Cole starting twice. But at the end of the day Cole is the better pitcher, the Pirates aren't going to take any risks in a 1 game playoff, and the Pirates have a deep enough rotation with Liriano and Burnett that they can likely survive with Cole only going once in a 5 game series. Honestly, if they knew they weren't going up against a pitcher as singularly amazing as Arrieta, I could seem them seriously considering going with Liriano; the Cubs have been that brutally helpless against him.
  22. Pretty sure you don't need to worry about that.
