  1. I didn't even think about that; I'd still rather face the Pirates to get rid of the tougher opponent, but the idea of crushing the Cardinals in such a humbling scenario after they all but cruised in to win the division, AND to do it in front of TBFiB, would be pretty sweet. i mean either scenario is going to be great. arrieta will vanquish whoever it is. You mean either scenario of beating the Cardinals? Because while I obviously want the Cubs to beat the Pirates, I can't say I really care about how they do it outside of what I think is best for the Cubs "strategically" as opposed to how I would prefer the Cardinals to lose in the most humiliating fashion possible.
  2. Did Papelbon kill Harper? Hahahahahaah! I get your point but without Harper the Nats would just suck more. Without Jake, would the Cubs be anywhere near the playoffs? Both are relative to how well their teams do; it's not Harper's fault his team fell apart around him while he's put up a .370 .509 .827 1.336 line in September. Who would you have rather had on the Cubs this season, Jake Arrieta or Bryce Harper? I take Harper without even thinking about it. That kind of god mode-level offense in your lineup nearly every day goes a LONG way to make up for the starting rotation missing Arrieta every 5th.

  4. ... Yeah, the Nationals' collapse has been amazingly epic, but there's a 10 [expletive] WAR player on their team.
  5. Eh, I was hoping for more; it's mostly people actually having a pretty civil back and forth about some of the concerns about Rizzo early on in the 2013 season, and then people doing a good job of allaying those fears. Kind of a snooze.

  7. In a way it's the punishment they deserve for their ignorant hubris.
  8. Pretty much; went into the season knowing the very best case would be them being mediocre, so I haven't had much interest to tune in outside of not even a half of the Packers game. Plus this dumb town is ultimately a Bears town by default, so if the Cubs rule I want them to be able to do it for at least a little while with the Bears sucking so they can have maximum dominance.
  9. something something benching something being pushed by younger players something joe Maddons firm steady hands and calming eyes something Mostly the adjustments at the plate.
  10. I would murder someone for a [expletive] you-dong right here from Soler.

  12. Come on, Starlin. Open this nonsense up.
  13. Holy [expletive], for a second I thought Rizzo was walking up to some DMX.
  14. Thanks for letting them stall, umps. Dicks.
  15. Whut. I really want a Game 163 between the Cardinals and Pirates So you're really going to be that "I'm rooting for the Cubs to lose" guy?
  16. Awwww, rat farts. Alright, I'll settle for a CG shutout.
  17. Back? They're, like, last or almost dead last when it comes to getting a guy in from 3B with less than 2 outs. Someone respectable posted that a week or two ago; something like 42%. Not just that, but getting big HITS with multiple runners on base. It happened a ton in August when we were scoring runs in bunches, and the past few weeks, not so much. I don't give a [expletive] about that; that's going to fluctuate all the time. The bigger problem is stranding what are basically gimme runs, and they were doing that at an above average rate even when they've been scoring runs in bunches. and a big part of it is that we strike out a lot, which is a byproduct of our power and our plate approach, both of which have a lot to do with how many runs we've been scoring for the past two months. we've been scoring lots of runs. why is does it matter how we do in a specific situation? It's a byproduct of along the lines of what Soul is talking about; that's always going to fluctuate up and down, like I said. Being last or almost last when it comes to something as relatively simple as getting a guy across the plate from 3B from there's less than 2 outs is more problematic, especially when they're heading into the postseason where dong-driven drubbings are relatively rare.
