  1. Kyle is 100% right and it's not even arguable. It takes every ounce of willpower I have not to point it out every time someone wrongly cites "regression to the mean." So what, even though they're top 5 in FIP/xFIP and they're a good rotation on paper, the past 3 weeks of terrible pitching is what can be expected for the rest of the season? I'm trying to figure out what the argument is here. The argument is that almost the entire lineup has gone to horsefeathers in this stretch and that's not "regression to the mean."
  2. Just because today is the Holy Sacrament of Castro doesn't mean you actually need to make decisions like him.
  3. OK, clearly there's a pretty big middle ground they could have and should have ended up in instead of basically leaping from godly to terrible. You're really [expletive] the chicken if you're thinking people are wrong to be at all frustrated over it. this i all correct. but i think what truffle is saying is there is a huge chasm between "frustrated" and "we won't make the playoffs"/"we are terrible"/"how soon until fans wears bags over their heads" rhetoric. Anyone that is a fan is frustrated. it's maturity that comes into play in which you can distance yourself from from frustration to outright craziness. a fleeting comment is understandable. it's the overarching, over-the-top pessimism that is annoying as hell. (not directed at you, just trying to read between his lines and my perceptions) Eh; seemed more like he was really harping on the regression thing like this can all be shrugged off and anyone getting worked up at all was just worrying over nothing, which simply isn't the case.

  5. Oh my God. The unthinkable is about to happen.
  6. wait. why would "controlling his stuff" require insane athleticism? http://img.bleacherreport.net/img/images/photos/003/578/834/3ca47f3ee8ff5089c910b30e77ff4bd8_crop_exact.jpg?w=1500&h=1500&q=85 Kyle's gonna think you're Patty Duke-ing him with that shot.
  7. Probably that they go back to pitching well. Just a hunch. It's pretty funny how high people got when we had like 5 of the best 20 starters in baseball, but then when the inevitable regression happens - albeit rather annoyingly in a terrible 3 week stretch - people lose their minds. Did you really expect Lester to maintain a sub 2.00 ERA or Hammel to not turn into a post-June pumpkin? OK, clearly there's a pretty big middle ground they could have and should have ended up in instead of basically leaping from godly to terrible. You're really horsefeathering the chicken if you're thinking people are wrong to be at all frustrated over it.

  10. lashing out? you're obviously just trolling and perpetuating pessimism. it's annoying as [expletive]. i'm not worried at all. it's frustrating for everyone. what's annoying as hell are these stupid posts that are not insightful or intellectual and do literally no good. complain about the play of the game in the game thread? fine. but talking about bag heads at wrigley is stupid and uncalled for. i know you are smart enough to understand this situation, so stop acting like you're not. you're lying when you say you're not worried about the pitching. there's still a ton to be optimistic about, but this is getting into scary territory that was kind of unthinkable a couple months ago. Yeah, it's one thing to be sure they're nowhere near this bad and will straighten things out, but it's another to continually be insisting there's nothing to worry about. It's a good starting rotation, but it's far from impossible that we're seeing some serious regression/age issues contributing hugely to this.
  11. Fun Bad is a myth made up by dolts.
  12. Ugh, these two games have me flashing back to all of those stupidly stranded runners on 3B from last year. Stop doing that so much.
  13. I don't know, maybe Montero was just THAT good at catching before he got injured.
  14. Everything is terrible! http://www.aleagueofherown.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/sunseeds.jpg
  15. It's like all the ridiculous overreactions I make are coming true. A nightmare indeed. No, then the team would be murdered by a tornado while going through their 6th straight game of being perfecto-ed.
  16. CASTRO SAVE US. http://www.chicagonow.com/312-sports/files/2015/11/castro.jpg
  17. My God. It's like the opposing team scoring just completely shatters them.
  18. in this vein i would like to petition for our game thread starter to remove heyward from his signature. whenever he removed starlin last year, castro went on a tear. Yeah, subtract Heyward and add Contreras. I don't know; anyone in his sig has about a 50-50 chance of being cursed by it.
