  1. But that's hardly exceptional; most team/coach relationships end pretty badly short of the guy being a beloved figure who retires on top or before he can be fired. If anything, the relationship with Vinnie is far more glaring as being unusual and potentially something that'd have to make up for, but fortunately VDN did them the favor of continuing to be terrible post-Bulls, so nobody likely really cares. I think the Thibs thing was a much bigger deal than usual. That seems more like a proximity bias than anything else.

  3. Given how gossip-y and porous the NBA is when it comes to these kind of things, yeah, it seems pretty unfounded. It seems people are conflating the tumultuous relationship the FO has had with their coaches with how they get along with their players. Point is, initially it was sounding like you were saying signing Wade was an opportunity for them to really go out of their way and make a show of going above and beyond in making a player feel welcome instead of just, y'know, acting like normal, professional human beings and managing to get along fine with him like FO's and players typically do.
  4. Great, then when you're hoping for is SOP, which we have no reason to assume they wouldn't be doing anyway. Glad to see that's settled.
  5. We need to not do what Pat Riley just did, for one. OK? The Bulls DON'T have a legitimate history of being at odds with their players. Noah's departure was probably the "worst" thing along those lines, and that was simply making a break from a player whose contract was up.
  6. I agree that actually landing a name for once looks good, but the bold part seems like nonsense. Whet the hell are they supposed to do to accomplish this? I like how you're asking me how to be nice to a person, as if you don't even know where to start. No, I'm not; I'm asking how a professional sports organization is supposed to do something as ridiculous as "pamper" a player so everyone notices without looking like a bunch of pathetic, overcompensating goons. As others have pointed out, the narratives of the Bulls mistreating their players seems pretty overblown, so I'm confident they can simply act like normal human beings and have a pretty standard professional and personal relationship with Wade.
  7. They finally get some days off mixed in again, too.
  8. Well, you had a little stretch where the offense was struggling a bit, and a longer stretch where most of the pitchers have been pitching poorly.
  9. I'm a little stunned anyone at this point finds the idea of Junior Lake: terrible baseball player to be a debatable conclusion.
  10. The Pirates did not. I'm referring to how Jake looked in both Cardinals and Mets series http://www.reactiongifs.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/oh_i_get_it_fight_club.gif
  11. He looks like the dude worried about getting someone fired at Burger King.
  12. What was his last kooky gimmick, the short shorts trip?
  13. Someone add the Cubs to this:
  14. I haven't consigned Soler to oblivion like many here have. That said, The offense isn't the problem, and the rotation will probably right itself. The bullpen is a different story. Soler's injury has also forced guys like Szczur, Coghlan, etc to play way more and be exposed. As opposed to Soler playing more and being exposed?
  15. I don't tell me more
  16. it pains me that i agree with you this much even though i think the perception that players don't want to come here is a bit overblown...a lot of circumstances that would've been tough to overcome for any team have kept us from getting the big guys we've gone after. but yeah, i think it would help. wade is one of those guys around the league. I agree that actually landing a name for once looks good, but the bold part seems like nonsense. Whet the hell are they supposed to do to accomplish this?
  17. I honestly have no idea what this even means. You're doing it again. Doing what? I have no clue what the hell you mean by "pampering him," and your next post didn't do anything to clear that up.
  18. I feel like the repeated longing for Soler is truly the best barometer for how bad things have gotten.
  19. No, but there is reason to believe it continues long enough for the Pirates to get back into it and they spend the rest of the season battling it out. Like I just said, the Pirates are just getting over from sucking for an entire month; this stretch COULD very easily drag on to varying degrees for another week or two after the ASB.
  20. I honestly have no idea what this even means.
  21. Vinestal is losing his damn mind like he honestly loves what's happening. It's really odd.
  22. Oh, absolutely. There's a reason I turned the game off tonight. But I still believe this is the best team in baseball by a decent margin. Oh my! This team as it is playing currently is probably closer to the bottom than the top. I can't see how anyone who has been watching this team the last 3 weeks can have an optimistic outlook on this season at this point. I mean they aren't just losing some series here. The complete collapse of the rotation combined with the nightmare of a bullpen doesn't seem to inspire a lot of hope. You realize they're playing a team that was absolutely horrible for an entire month, right? I mean, it's one thing to be concerned and to realize they're playing like ass right now, but it's absurd to just assume they're going to be garbage for the ENTIRE REST OF THE SEASON.
  23. Oh, Len just answered it with the fireworks. That's what I get for listening from another room.
  24. Why does it sound like they're broadcasting in a hurricane?
  25. Oh, absolutely. There's a reason I turned the game off tonight. But I still believe this is the best team in baseball by a decent margin. lmfao no Jesus horsefeathering Christ, right after I try to give him some credit, too.
