  1. Go back to jehr's original post from before this got out of hand (as political discussions usually do nowadays); his original statement didn't use the word "equally" - that inference was added later by people who disagreed with him. I read his original post as him simply being unhappy with both (main) candidates, which sounds fair. NOBODY WANTS ANY OF YOUR STUPID GAZPACHO, LISA.

  3. Probably harder considering there's no pads to "protect" themselves in those sports. It also happens a lot less often and usually you don't see the same person getting concussed over and over. Basketball concussions can be bad too because their cushion when the fall is hardwood instead of grass. You are operating in the rarer occassions there, but theres going to be some risk in any contact sport. Of course there is; like I said, football just takes that inherent risk and makes it infinitely more likely on every single play.
  4. Thank horsefeathering Christ.
  5. With all these sports, you've got people diving/sliding and running into things or people, and there's just always the risk that your brain gets sloshed around too much because of it. Football just expands that inherent risk waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than we should be comfortable with.
  6. Things like general NFL corruption and shitty things done by players off the field and the Bears being terrible have all done a ton to turn me off of football, but the main thing by far is stuff like the GQ article. At some point in the last few years watching football just became really...unpleasant. That sounds really wishy-washy, but I don't know how else to describe it; before that, one of the main reasons to watch was to see the big hits, and all of sudden seeing that just left me feeling sick and anxious. It suddenly felt like watching a clip online of someone getting hit by a car or taking a bad fall; basically watching a game turned into the type of real life violence that I didn't and don't like seeing. It just stopped being entertainment and became real in a single offseason.

  10. (It was on the boss' dime. His literal one dime.)
  11. I'm sure I did back in the day when it was hot and fresh, but NEVER AGAIN.
  12. There's a decent chance it's some kind of Daniel Stern in Rookie of the Year-type situation given who we're talking about.
  13. Hey, whatever you need to tell yourself.
  14. fowler guyintherainthatmojoalwaysposts.gif Bish, that gif is HACK as horsefeathers. I'm insulted. PS: Derwood is Derwooding HARD in this thread.
  15. Well, I guess Cutler can throw one thing well: https://www.instagram.com/p/BO8Bd6ygEd0/
  16. He is indeed a Major Leaguer I'd like to horsefeathers.
  17. It's almost like signing Rondo was a terrible idea that everyone but the Bulls FO realized.
  18. Huh. With Soler gone, Almora might now be emerging as a dark horse in terms of Most Handsome Cub. He looks pretty goofy in a baseball uniform, but damn, he cleans up good. Harper...WTF is going on there.
  19. Ross wasn't so much signed for chemistry as he was a personal muse to Lester. That and everyone needs a backup catcher, few of which are going to be able to hit their way out of a wet paper bag. Kawasaki's a mascot and to grant the media their 'look, the Chinaman (yes, I know) thinks he's people' interviews. Okay ... I haven't checked this thread out in awhile ... but explain that last part to me? Kawasaki was signed to be a mascot and to grant the media their ... "Chinaman" (I mean, in this day and age, most baseball media would be more surprised with a Chinese baseball player, there's Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean, but off the top, no "Chinaman", but that's almost a political issue, so forget it) fetish (fetish isn't even the right word, but I'm not sure what to make of "look, the Chinaman thinks he's people" considering that Asian Americans have been in baseball for long enough now?) Perhaps I'm missing some sort of joke in there that I'm not aware of, as I've never really followed individual poster's and their habits, but I'd argue that Kawasaki has a career because he's a capable defensive sub, and that the Cubs could use someone like that to call up in a pinch. Forget it, man...it's Little Slide Rooter-town.
  20. And yet people still say the cupboard was bare when Theo took over.
  21. Did you only watch season 2 of FNL and think that was the entire series?
