  1. needlessly? Right now the consensus is that he's legit and he's ours. i wouldn't call any of that "needless" But, again, it seems the talk then and now is that nobody would have picked Trubisky before the Bears. Like I said, I could easily be wrong about that, but if that's the case, then, hey, the GM fucked up and needlessly traded to get him when he didn't have to, but hopefully it still works out. This narrative of it being some kind of skillful move part of the "smokescreen" of signing Glennon seems more like wishful thinking. Like, he was convinced someone was going to try and get Trubisky before the Bears, and he was worried they weren't going to be able make the trade to beat this non-existent competition to draft Trubisky, so he signed Glennon. That seems far more likely than it was all the wily wheelings and dealings of some kind of stealth master GM.
  2. there is not one singleGood reason why you couldn't bring jay back and draft trubisky Or, heck, sign Kaep. They probably could have had him for less, he's better than Glennon, and he would have been even easier for them to dump if Trubisky looks to be the real deal.
  3. Granted, I've payed the absolute minimum attention to the Bears, but it really sounds like some of you are still trying to explain yourself in circles about the Bears on Draft Day. Like, if Trubisky ends up working out for them, hey, fantastic, but didn't they still needlessly trade to get him sooner? Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure seemed that general consensus outside of Bears fans was "what the hell are the Bears doing" because apparently nobody as looking to pick him up ahead of the Bears. What they traded away wasn't some kind of back breaker, but can anyone really look at it as some kind of crafty masterstroke by the GM? Seems like he got antsy and psyched himself out of waiting to get him.
  4. Hendricks savagery. I like these Phillies socks, though.
  5. Most of these Phillies are probably made-up players.
  6. They can try that all they want; it won't work and won't stave off the inevitable. If you take away the helmets, some nut job like Vontaze Burfict will kill someone on the field and then the NFL would be screwed Someone's going to get killed at this rate already. There's no "armor" that they can wear that's going to protect their brain from being rattled around so long as the game continues in the direction it's been going.
  7. They're going to have to do something drastic to change the game. There's no way around it. Recent history shows the NFL is more likely to make hitting more punitive (while increasing the body armor) than it would be to remove body armor and hope the players avoid their own injuries They can try that all they want; it won't work and won't stave off the inevitable.
  8. Play with rugby-style padding, and they'd learn quickly that an improper tackle is bad news for everyone involved. Still a lot of contact, but full-on head-first bone-crunching tackles would be a thing of the past almost immediately. But never in a million years would the NFL go with LESS head protection, even if it fundamentally changed the game for the better They're going to have to do something drastic to change the game. There's no way around it.
  9. Get rid of helmets. Seriously.
  10. It's a grey area, but the biggest things that stick out is the huge gulf in popularity between football and fight sports in terms of how many kids participate in each sport, and the NFL's lying, feet-dragging, covering-up, not taking good care of retired players-way of approaching this issue. Like, nobody's ever pretended like boxing wasn't horsefeathering you up. The NFL, however, kept pretending that even as guys just get bigger and faster and all they're wearing are these dinky helmets (nevermind concussions don't just occur due to head impact) that things like concussions and CTE and brain trauma weren't a major problem. I mean, call it hypocrisy if you want, but boxing has worn its scumbaggery in how its run and promoted and what it does to the fighters almost as an odd badge of pride for its entire existence. The NFL, however, for at least the last 25 years, has tried its hardest to present itself as THE all-American sport, embracing jingo-istic pro-military/pro-'Murrica garbage, all the while trying to tap dance away from things like concussions and CTE and what players are doing off the field. This is not the kind of sport and not the kind of organization that should be inspiring who knows how many kids each year to be colliding into each other with all the safety precautions of duct-taping someone to a car seat if the seat belt is broken. Like, don't think this means other sports don't have to deal with concussions; they all do. As the understanding of how the brain works has evolved, it's become clear that just sudden stops and falls can cause brain injury even if the head doesn't seem to have been struck, or hasn't been struck hard. But it's the height of absurdity that football, where they've been intentionally working to make these guys as strong and as fast as possible, ran around as long as they did with their fingers in their ears (and still are, to a degree) about the issue. Nobody's thinking you can completely prevent brain injuries in sports, but football is barreling towards a brick wall. Something has to change.
  11. I think this deserves another look just so people realize how damn crazy and paranoid it sounds. Remember, this is a person talking about football, Star Wars and Game of Thrones.
  12. The posting history is documented proof of the dangers of tackle football. No further comment necessary. Wait so it's q.e.d. that high school football should be abolished? Ok guys I must have cte. You have a forum here full of this weird groupthink. I'm not sure if you are stupid or insecure in that you take an extreme opinion like football should be outlawed, Star Wars is important for adult males or game of thrones integrity matters, easy and apparently incontrovertible. The stronger you hold these thoughts and write them out and read them you reinforce them in some application of dual code theory. And the more you focus on the secret parentage of a game of thrones character or a new trailer for Star Wars and that football needs to be destroyed the more you can armor your psychological resilience and having never satisfied a woman resonates somewhat less. 0.3 Too derivative of sulley and that Cubbie Swagger guy. Also: not having kids tackle doesn't mean "abolishing football."
  13. Jalapeno diarrhea.

  15. Play or "play?"
  16. Plus Grace gets plunked.
  17. Yeah, it's....not a good look for Lee. He whiffs and then is basically standing there alone as Young is hauled off, acting like HE's being held back...and there's nobody there yet to do so. Bad baseball fight. Also: that baby you see near the beginning is now 36.
  18. Hurling a batting helmet at the pitcher is a surprisingly under-utilized move; the guy just threw something at you, so it's only fair to retaliate in kind. Just don't Bryce it up:
  19. Yes, I indeed "missed" a bunch since I only posted 8 different fights. OR MAYBE IT WAS AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE. SOMEONE HOLD ME BACK OR ELSE I'M GONNA DEMOLISH THIS FOOL.
  20. In honor of yesterday's dillywahcker of a hootenanny between the Yankees and the Tigers, let's remember some FIGHTS:
  21. Maybe there is a higher power on his side in how all of the Mets players are being struck down one by one until they have no choice but to ascend Tebow to the ML team.
