  2. It's insane how rarely it seems like Almora even sees 3 pitches in an AB.
  3. Bringing back the name and shame. WrigleyField22 rawaction SpongeWorthy Your broken avatar pic links are gross. What other bums are traipsing around her with sigs and avatars switched off, so they're not aware at how much of a mess they are? NAME AND SHAME.
  4. Man, that guy melted down like that so many times.
  5. Man, remember when teams would have been horsefeathering TERRIFIED over that reversed call and then having to face Bryant? Now they're probably mildly annoyed, like they don't get to start the next inning with the pitcher at the plate.
  6. It was Sublime, wasn't it? I went back through his posts and outside of a few Bears game ones, he had that meltdown when the Al Franken story came out. Man, he's probably one of those people that thinks the Franken thing was all a setup, right? That's one of my favorite lame conspiracy theories: "alright, we're going to pay several women to make up stories about this totally average, unremarkable, ex-SNL writer/cast member Senator, and totally crush him! That will DESTROY the progressive movement in America for DECADES TO come! MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH!!!"
  7. At the risk of sounding self-centered...wait, was this because of me? I honestly don’t remember. It was Sublime, wasn't it?
  8. Baez' response when Chili tried to Chiliball him: [spoil][/spoil]
  9. Yeah, but his value now isn't because he became a better defender than Russell; nobody called what actually happened. The idea that he would click was basically hinged on the idea that he's an excellent defender with a ton of pop; if he can just figure out some patience, lay off some of the garbage pitches he loves to go for and learn how to take a walk, he might turn into something special. Instead he basically just was all, "nah, horsefeathers that; I like being me."
  10. He really is a Road To the Show character come to life Pretty much; he's essentially proved everyone wrong, including the people that didn't think he was gonna bust or shouldn't be traded. If you can find me one person who said something, like, "Baez is going to inexplicably bend the game to his will and ability and really not change much at all," it would be a [expletive] miracle.
  11. Totally agree; it feels like that when Strop gets into trouble, it's FAR more likely he will be able to work out of it. Once Carl starts letting guys on base, it feels like he's toast more often than not, and he's not going to be able to escape without damage. Yeah, although Strop getting into trouble sometimes leads to a 3-run bomb, other times it only makes things more nerve-racking watching him wriggle out of it. It's hard to tell which version you're about to see unfold. But it feels like when Carl gets in trouble, the only foreseeable outcome is him walking in runs until he is relieved. That's not always the case. But I personally just feel way more comfortable with Bad Pedro on the mound than Bad Carl. Same here. Though the flipside of that is that when Carl is on he seems SO much better. Like, with Strop I'm always feeling a little nervous, despite his track record and reliability, just due to the general nature of how he pitches; kind of like a low grade Marmol when Marmol was in that in-between period between when he was godly and just turned bad. I'm usually feeling pretty great about Carl coming in since there's such a good chance he's going to take care of business with zero drama; it's just that if he lets that first batter get on I suddenly fall into the pit of dread.

  13. I thought I painted a pretty clear picture.
  14. one time when i was in high school i hit a ball into the left field corner and when i got to second i saw there was nobody at third. i was instantly thrilled about how smart i was for being the good baserunner who noticed things like that so i ran to third. the third baseman who was out in shallow left field immediately saw what i was doing and jogged back to the bag and i was out by 20 feet and my coach took me out of the game for being an idiot. i can’t even imagine what it must feel like to see stuff like that and be right. I can top this in the shame department. I tried the same thing during a middle school game and actually just barely made it, but I did the worst "slide" of all time to cap it off. Not really a slide so much as a flying belly flop that completely knocked the wind out of me. I tried to play it off like I was OK and stood up to dust myself off, but then...I'm still not even sure what happened. The 3B coach asked if I was OK, and, still trying to catch my breath all I could do was nod and unleash the loudest damn fart I've ever managed. I cannot emphasize enough how much of a foghorn this sounded like; it was like a delayed reaction to the belly flop and all of the air inside of me was blasting out of my ass. There's zero chance the people in the stands didn't hear it. The ump and the coach are trying their damnedest to not laugh, the third baseman is losing his mind, and my damn dugout is going nuts. Meanwhile, I'm finally doubled over with my hands on my knees trying to breathe again. I was not good at baseball.
  15. I really don't see it being someone besides Strop or Cishek.
  16. It's a guarantee that if you find a Braves fan (first of all, that's impressive) who says they're perfectly satisfied with how the 90's Braves' run played out, then that person is a stone cold dork.
  17. A dramatic recreation of last night's game: Maybe tonight's won't be as much of a series of tiny heart attacks.
