  1. Who has brought up getting rid of Lee or trading him for A-Rod? Everyone's brought up Aramis in that trade...in my case, packaged with Wood, Jones and a reliever. Aramis benefist NY because he's showing he needs to be behind or surrounded by big hitters to pound the ball. Bam, easily done in NY. He also replaces A-Rod at 3rd. They need a starter, they need the OF help, and they need the bullpen help, badly. I think A-Rod would thrive on a team like the Cubs, where there are very few superstar players compared to the Yankees. He's much more consistent than Aramis, would be able to carry on offensively if Lee gets hurt, and misses little time himself. I think you overestimate their needs. They are in first place. I didn't mention ARam because I don't think he rises to the kind of value that the Yanks would want for ARod. We're a team with many holes. Packing up several players to acquire one doesn't strike me as a terribly productive approach for a club that is missing quite a few pieces. This season and team are a wash. Aramis, IMO, is always going to be a bust unless he's paired or surrounded by big hitters he can draw the pitches he can hit off of. Wood is Wood...either he picks it up as a starter or they start showing him as a bullpen guy. Wood is the past, and the past stinks. He's not a solution to the starting rotation. Jones is Jones...trading him while he's hot for a proven player would be the greatest thing he's accomplishd baseball-wise. Is it really a big deal if grabbing a stud as a step in the right direction opens up or leaves a couple of holes unfixed? Last place instead of second to last? I'm sick of these stopgap "solutions" that accomplish diddly squat. Go for broke and get things done.
  2. "Thought Police"...I love that song!
  3. Who? Where? When? How? WHAT TH-?!?
  4. Because eventually losing your job to Walker isn't nearly as humiliating as losing your job to Tony Womack.
  5. It's a long, slow start, but he's getting back up there...
  6. So why aren't you raving about and defending Neifi because of the stellar month or so he had last season?
  7. He seems to only be clubbing balls pitched about knee high and inside on him.
  8. The Cubs have had 3 come from behind wins this year when I'm working out using this big inflatable yoga ball-type-thingie. If the games get close, I'm busting it out again.
  9. Agreed. When you sign on the dotted line to earn millions of dollars to play a game, you are expected to have your head in the game. Baserunning blunders like the ones that Jones displayed made it clearly obvious his head was not in the game. And, yes, he totally deserves to be booed when his head isn't in the game. Especially when it happens 3 times in less than 2 weeks. I'm not saying boo the guy day in and day out because of it, but if he gets a few "BOOO-URNS" sessions because of it, hey, live and learn. And if you continually strike out on the SAME pitch over and over and over and over and over again (low and inside) to the point even a child can notice, people get ticked off. Fans cheer and boo over smart and stupid playing. I say boo the play, not the player.
  10. Yeah, those stupid idiots! I hope they die! Like idiots!
  11. I think he could make an excellent speciality relief pitcher. I think his chances of being anything more than a Rusch-esque starting pitcher are pretty far from good.
  12. How about that time he punched that old woman and wore a couple of babies as shoes? That was like his 2nd or 3rd most jerkiest day of all time, easy.
  13. Try Bleed Cubbie Blue.com. And that's not meant as an insult. If you only want "positive" articles/posts/discussions about the Cubs, you're set for life there. When this team gets me down, I read that page for a little pick me up.
  14. The day before the series against the Reds, I changed my computer's desktop wallpaper to a great picture of Carlos in full pitching glory making a rare appearance in the classic pinstripes. Ever since then, bam, the team's offense has come alive and Z has pitched his best game of the season. Carlos in pinstripes, much like Todd Walker with a full beard, is something secretly banned by the baseball tribunal, as the dark and mysterious powers released would overwhelm and destroy all other teams. I pledge to tap into into this reservoir of awesome power carefully, and use it only for good. So what silly superstitions do the rest of you have that "help" the Cubs win?
  15. I feel compelled to do this. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=32550 Oh, Jesus, God, NO. How many times do we have to repeat this ridiculous little game? He dominates in the minors, but can't do diddly in the majors as a starter. If they HAVE to bring up, try him out as a reliever instead.
  16. Because he strikes out way too much. It's like he's not even trying up there.
  17. If Walker grew his beard to ZZ Top levels, he'd be the greatest player who ever lived. MLB forces him to shave his hair down to keep the playing fair, kind of like a whole Sampson deal.
  18. Jacque Jones pees in the team's water cooler. What we all don't know, however, is they ask him to do it. Just so they can hopefully have some of his stupendous greatness permeate their unworthy bodies.
  19. You have no idea the power of the Jacque side.
  20. If Wood can pull out a few more quality starts and keep getting back to being himself, I think he becomes VERY appealing, especially given his playoff success, limited sample size it may be. And I think if sold right as long as he keeps creeping back up to his old levels, Aramis could be very appealing. He's showing he's a guy who will crush if you plug him into a lineup where he's surrounded with big hitters. The Yankees can do that, and then some. Plus he's impressively improved his defense, so it's not like they're dumping 3B in the toilet, or anywhere near it. They need the OF help, and JJ is ultra hot and he'd hammer the short porch in Yankee stadium. They need bullpen relief like nobody's business, so if somebody like a healthy Williamson was offered, or maybe Aardsma, I think they'd look twice. That's addressing a LOT of needs with potentially only a little downgrade at 3B, and maybe in the long run, none at all or even an improvement. I just don't think it's an offer the Yankees would laugh off...they need HUGE help to push further into the playoffs, and here's a bunch of guys that can potentially do that. A-Rod hasn't.
  21. THIS BAT STILL LIVE!!!! CHOP-CHOP!!!!
  22. Jacque Jones needs to stop making up so many fake names just to prop himself up on the internet.
  23. Jacque Jones is worse than Hitler.
  24. Hey, yeah....let's make fun of the guy that's carrying the Cubs offense right now. Why not? He isn't going to undo a career of mediocrity with a month of good baseball. If that was true, we'd all be bowing in the name of the glory of Lord Neifi of Perez.
  25. The hell Hill gets "free love." I'll singlehandedly run his awful butt into the ground if I have to. I look at it this way...right now we're seeing "Shock Jones," because his performace is so unbelievable. I have absolute faith "Schlock Jones" will be back eventually, since he's played that role pretty much his entire career. Is he a terrible player? Naaah. Is he anywhere near being worth the deal he got and not having a platoon partner? Well, I'm not batpoop insane, so I'd have to go with "no."
