    Except, I don't think the Cubs were in a financial position to shell out $18M a year to a CF and still address their other holes. Oh, I know. Just yet another move the Cubs have to sit out on.

    For only 2 years, I would have had zero problem seeing the Cubs do this. I highly doubt his steep dropoff last year would have continued.

    The Orioles' official board has people griping that Hill alone isn't worth Roberts and even him and Marshall probably is still kind of worthless.

    It does, I just wish it was ultimately for a more sensational deal/trade. Fukudome would be cool, but it's ultimately kinda ho-hum in the grand scheme of things.

    I wonder what Prior would do if he gets traded to the Reds. There's no way he just takes that quietly. It would be lame of the Cubs to trade him back to Dusty's clutches.

    He was perfect for them when he was first available, what, back in 2006? How many times do we have to see the Cubs ignore someone who can so obviously help them for such relatively low cost? Cuban....hurry.

    But if much of those efforts end up being as effective or even worse than doing nothing, is that something someone should get credit for? I've known plenty of people who work very hard, but aren't terribly good at their jobs.

    I agree. If not better, just as good. But I think the same thing about Murton too. Depends on what players the Cubs give up to get him. Also, having a coach that he's familiar with may be what saves him from his personal demons. I'd rather keep Murton to play LF/RF (Crazy dream of Soriano moving to RF), have Fukudome play CF and trade high on Pie.

    I didn't think it was possible to love the idea of Cuban as the owner of the Cubs even more...but hey, look, here we are. I don't know, I'm oddly confident that he gets it. I think he REALLLY wants this team and his offer is gonna be head and shoulders above anyone else's.

    Then why did YOU diverge it off into a discussion about Prior? It was your response to a post that only mentioned Prior's salary in terms of money available if he's traded that started this tangent.
