  1. Man, I'd love to get him without giving up Hill. That would be a nasty rotation 1-4. Left handed heavy, but yes, it would be dominating. My concern is it would be nice to go back and forth. So you'd have to have Z not start the opener. So if this did happen, you'd go LRLRL Bedard Z Lilly Marquis Hill Who's starting in between Hill and Bedard? I hate this "reasoning" that you can't have back to back lefties in the rotation. Yes there are more righties than lefties in any given batting order. Don't you think these guys have been facing these same batting orders their whole careers? In the same way, I see no reason with the obsession of having a lefty in the rotation or a lefty in the batting lineup. 8 best hitters, 5 best pitchers, let em throw and hit with whatever they want as long as they do it well. Little known fact, we had back to back lefties ALL FREAKIN YEAR LONG LAST YEAR. How'd that work out for us? So you're accounting all or most or even a significant number of the Cubs' losses to this?
  2. As it's only been pointed out once so far, how is it Prior's fault that Houston has offered him a contract?
  3. Yeah, who was saying that? Its been all over sports talk radio in Chicago. I've been hearing people saying to play him, but nobody saying that he'll go anywhere and "win."
  4. Yeah, who was saying that?
  5. Man, the Bears REALLY missed Vasher.
  6. And remember, this is just saying the Astros offered him adeal. That doesn't mean at all that it's a deal he wants or he's even thinking about going to the Astros.
  7. Honestly, I don't mind seeing him on any other Central team besides the Cardinals. Obviously, I want the Cubs to win if he's pitching against him, but him pitching for the Astros doesn't "mean" anything to me because they're such a non-entity of a team...I view them as a rival in technicality only, and in any kind of emotional attachment.
  8. Please name at least a dozen. And I mean where most of the people here were raving that they were "untouchable."
  9. I can see the Yanks paying a high price to nab him. As much as I want to see Prior bounce back as a stater, the Yanks are probably the only team besides the White Sox and Cardinals that seeing him pitch for would be like a suckerpunch to my gut.
  10. If they could somehow get this done without Hill, I'm all about it...but I just don't see that happening. And why wouldn't some people trade Marmol? No reliever should ever be untouchable.
  11. We can also look at his numbers when he was actually the leadoff hitter last year.
  12. Awful idea. People complain about Soriano's OBP as the leadoff hitter, then why in God's name would we want Theriot up there?
  13. This guy's behavior is awesome on the field. I hope Zambrano is taking notes.
  14. I have absolutely no idea how Hawk fits into this. For one thing, I've never really heard him be "dismissive" as opposed to just simplistic and ignorant. Secondly, who brought up the can of corn?
  15. I'm really at the point that I just don't want to see a deal of any kind with Baltimore since we aready hae Bedard and Roberts in Hill and DeRosa. Just focus on trading for an upgrade at SS, Hendry.
  16. It's been sounding very much like Fukudome was signed here with the assurance he'll be playing RF. Until we hear otherwise, it's a huge stretch and terribly unlikely that we'll see him in CF. Any deal moving Pie must be countered with another deal to get a CFer.
  17. It's more that these guys are pro athletes and likely not master, or even capable, criminals, and based on what this report is showing as to how a lot of these guys got their supplies, it surprises me that any of them would be able to do it seemingly as airtight as Sammy has done, if he was using. If he was, wouldn't he need to keep using whatever throughout the season at various points? I guess maybe he could just stock up in the DR if that was doable and then have enough for the season. It's more common in the other thread than this one. People there are continually "surprised Sammy was smart enough" for a variety of things. I'm guessing it's because he's an ELL. A lot of people assume "stupid" when they hear an accent and broken English, which has never made sense to me. Especially when it's likely Sammy has a better mastery of two languages than the majority of people on this board. completely, completely, completely agree. people hear that accent and think he must not be very smart. I guess that must be where it comes from. Hard to argue the man has built himself into a multi-millionaire from scratch. Not that it takes a genius to do that, but I think it's pretty clear he knows what he's doing. Hey -- he's smarter than some of these other guys who wrote checks in their own names, that's for sure. I don't think it's necessarily the accent. You can point to actions like the corking and leaving the final game of 2004 early as being very, VERY poor decisions and, arguably, very dumb decisions. That and the fact that Sammy actually speaks English rather well. He only chooses to go into the whole broken English thing when he is being confronted about things when broken English is a convenient diversion Yeah, but I'd argue that's actually an example of him being "smart." Needing an interpretor when he had to go testify in DC? Brilliant.
  18. Considering analysts and journalists have already singled out his case as being one of the flimsiest in the report, I doubt it.

  20. My feelings also, pretty much. It sucks, but what can you do? Hey, anyone want my Prior road jersey? What size is it? How funky is it? Alright, I see I'm creating a windstorm. I'll send it to Laura to use as a future prize on NSBB. It's an XL and probably only worn 3 times. Windstorm? IT'S JUST ME!!! Dammit.

  22. The investigation seems to focus heavily on the California teams and the northeastern teams, mainly due to their locality to the major steroid investigations so far. I have a fealing if the invesitgations focused more on the rest of the country, Sammy might not look so clean.

  24. Robots aren't allowed to vote. Go back to stealing old people's pills for fuel wih your cold, cold metal claws. I keep trying to think of a witty response, but I got nothing. Must be all that xanax I'm stealing from the old folks home up the street. http://youtube.com/watch?v=X0GGfJVOlI0&feature=related
  25. You're honestly saying that these are false identities that fooled this government investigation? All of the players are easily researched through Baseball-Reference.com, Wikipedia, Google and a number of other online sources. They're all real. This is an absurd theory.
