To me, it's always going to be supremely frustrating if Cuban does end up with the team and he and ARod basically passed like ships in the night by ultimately a matter of months. I have little doubt that if he had control during this offseason that the combo of him and Lou would have had ARod here in no time.

This implies there are pictures where he doesn't look terrible.

Just finish toppling Cabrini-Green and build a new stadium there.
  4. Sammy Sofa
I'd be perfectly happy with a brand new stadium not called Wrigley in any way.

Do you really care what the place is called? It would bug me, but ultimately, no. It's not like it had some non-advertising name in the first place.

Roberts and Fukudome make a lot of sense hitting #1-2...anywhere else isn't knocking my socks off. Both players were/are sought seemingly because of the OBP...so why waste tha further down in the lineup? Sorry, Sori, it's time to move down.

Despite his posting "quirks," Meph typically is able to back up his points very well. You pointed it out yourself...he made a excellent argument regarding Greene's splits that show he is typically going to do very well offensively away once he's away from the Padres. Combine that with his very good defense and he fills a massive hole on this Cubs team. Most of the people you listed are able to back up their arguments. That's going to make them very persuasive. It's not a stretch at all when people tend to agree with people like that as opposed to people just generally speaking with "it seems to me" or "I think maybe" or various examples of "gut-think" analysis.

I don't think so. The reason Jaque got booed was his attitude. I never got the sense that he had a bad attitude. He just sucked. You missed all the times he talked about the fans and their "lack of support" in the press? You mean when he told the truth to the media? Things like being honest about being upset when the home fans boo don't exactly scream "bad attitude" to me. I doubt any of his teammates thought of him as a bad guy. I've never been bothered by such nonsense, though. You call out the fans when you're playing like crap, it's not going to go over well.

    Crap? Like who?

Man, I'd love to get him without giving up Hill. That would be a nasty rotation 1-4. Left handed heavy, but yes, it would be dominating. My concern is it would be nice to go back and forth. So you'd have to have Z not start the opener. So if this did happen, you'd go LRLRL Bedard Z Lilly Marquis Hill Who's starting in between Hill and Bedard? I hate this "reasoning" that you can't have back to back lefties in the rotation. Yes there are more righties than lefties in any given batting order. Don't you think these guys have been facing these same batting orders their whole careers? In the same way, I see no reason with the obsession of having a lefty in the rotation or a lefty in the batting lineup. 8 best hitters, 5 best pitchers, let em throw and hit with whatever they want as long as they do it well. Little known fact, we had back to back lefties ALL FREAKIN YEAR LONG LAST YEAR. How'd that work out for us? So you're accounting all or most or even a significant number of the Cubs' losses to this?

As it's only been pointed out once so far, how is it Prior's fault that Houston has offered him a contract?
  13. Sammy Sofa
Yeah, who was saying that? Its been all over sports talk radio in Chicago. I've been hearing people saying to play him, but nobody saying that he'll go anywhere and "win."
  14. Sammy Sofa
    Yeah, who was saying that?
  15. Sammy Sofa
Man, the Bears REALLY missed Vasher.
  16. Sammy Sofa
And remember, this is just saying the Astros offered him adeal. That doesn't mean at all that it's a deal he wants or he's even thinking about going to the Astros.
  17. Sammy Sofa
Honestly, I don't mind seeing him on any other Central team besides the Cardinals. Obviously, I want the Cubs to win if he's pitching against him, but him pitching for the Astros doesn't "mean" anything to me because they're such a non-entity of a team...I view them as a rival in technicality only, and in any kind of emotional attachment.

Please name at least a dozen. And I mean where most of the people here were raving that they were "untouchable."
  19. Sammy Sofa
I can see the Yanks paying a high price to nab him. As much as I want to see Prior bounce back as a stater, the Yanks are probably the only team besides the White Sox and Cardinals that seeing him pitch for would be like a suckerpunch to my gut.
  20. Sammy Sofa
If they could somehow get this done without Hill, I'm all about it...but I just don't see that happening. And why wouldn't some people trade Marmol? No reliever should ever be untouchable.
  21. Sammy Sofa
We can also look at his numbers when he was actually the leadoff hitter last year.
  22. Sammy Sofa
Awful idea. People complain about Soriano's OBP as the leadoff hitter, then why in God's name would we want Theriot up there?
  23. Sammy Sofa
This guy's behavior is awesome on the field. I hope Zambrano is taking notes.
  24. Sammy Sofa
I have absolutely no idea how Hawk fits into this. For one thing, I've never really heard him be "dismissive" as opposed to just simplistic and ignorant. Secondly, who brought up the can of corn?
  25. Sammy Sofa
I'm really at the point that I just don't want to see a deal of any kind with Baltimore since we aready hae Bedard and Roberts in Hill and DeRosa. Just focus on trading for an upgrade at SS, Hendry.
