  1. Soriano's offensive numbers suffer the more he hits with guys on. Why not keep him leadoff and then bat Roberts 2nd (which is moot since the Cubs won't get him)? Then Roberts is still hitting ahead of Lee and Aramis.
  2. Almost all of Major League Baseball thought for years that the home run was a "fad" and hitting a bunch of them was basically unsportsmanlike.
  3. Exactly. I think a brand new stadium in Miami is going to drastically increase the fans attending. The current stadium seems designed to drive away as many people as possible.
  4. While securing a new stadium is great news for the Marlins they still have to fill seats. It's still debatable that people will support this club on a daily basis and fill the stadium. Obviously, if the revenues from the stadium allows them to keep the young talent they have that will help, but I have my doubts about whether or not Miami will come out for the Marlins. If it's gonna have a dome, I can see them getting a lot more people to come out based on that alone. The brutal sun/humdiy/heat with the threat of sudden rain seemingly all the time is pretty big part of keeping people away from a three hour baseball game.
  5. I couldn't possibly care less about the fake, forced Brewers/Cubs "rivalry." There's nothing there. There wouldn't be more of one with the Royals, but at least the Cubs would be more likely to win at least a few more games because of it.
  6. He's got Hideki Matsui's skin.
  7. No. The psychological impact of asomeone themselves killing animals simply for the pleasure/sadism of it stems from they themselves actually doing the killing. They're getting the charge out of killing something themselves. That is significanly different psychologically than people who get a charge out of seeing other things kill each other, to which you have varying degrees. Boxing, ultimate fighting, people getting killed in films, animal fighting...all along that spectrum, but all VERY different than someone getting a thrill or sensation from actually killing something themselves.
  8. A badger with a machete taped to its head vs. a wolverine with a buzzsaw tied to its tail. FIGHT!!!!
  9. "Wacky pitcher?" Ugh. I have a feeling it's more like, "oh, Carlos, everything you do is hilarious! Now please don't snap me in half."
  10. No way. Please don't rush this, Cobs.
  11. How about a chimp with like steel fists vs. a 5 point buck with laser eyes. NOW we're talking. Ancient Rome shouldn't have 'ess on us, what with our modern technologies and all. SHOULD WE NOT BE ENTERTAINED?!?
  12. Elephannnnnnnnnnt fiiiiiiiiiights. Come on people, get behind me on this. Then we'll get creative, like, a gorilla with a bat vs. a polar bear with a grudge.
  13. It's a very bizarre sentence that actually hurts to read.
  14. :D I'm not positive because I can't find the stat, but I think Z had good run support last season. I think it was a more a joke based on how he's tended to give up a lot of runs in April.
  15. Here's hoping he finally doesn't suck on opening day. A non-sucky April would be nice, too. Or at least a less sucky one.
  16. If we weren't so hung up on dogs, same thing.
  17. I've been too and lived in enough 3rd world countries to safely assume I have eaten quite a few dogs, and I declare them to be delicious. By that reasoning, I sanction all animal fighting so long as the animals taste awesome when served for dinner afterwards. I really hope elephants taste great cooked, because elephant fights would be badass.
  18. I'd love to seem Dempster in a boadcasting role with the Cubs down the line, so long as he's only allowed to do the Harry impression once a month and for less than 90 seconds.
  19. Dead horse time, but wow, what a typical Hendry-ism. Focus on specific moves and only those moves until they can be done and nothing else. Thank God Fukudome was signed or else Jim would have been just sitting around the off season doing next to nothing. YOU DON'T ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH ONE PLAYER AT A TIME AND NOTHING ELSE, JIMBO. 'K, thanks.
  20. Isn't this an incredibly redundant statement? Who wouldn't be an "advocate" of such a thing? Well they were saying that Carlos Guillen couldnt play SS anymore cuz he was moved to 1B. And they brought up AROD being moved to 3B and making fun of me saying would I count him as a SS too? And I would! But he's not a SS right now, and hasn't been for years. That doesn't mean he can't still play it, but to consider him an active SS in any capacity is false.
  21. Bickering. Any news would be added to the thread title, just like it's been done every time something was revealed before.
  22. You're wrong about Greene. His away splits and comparisons between Petco and Wrigley show he clearly would be above average offensively. He's already well above average defensively.
