    What, he has permission to walk to 1st if he gets a hit if he bats #2? Yet again, the Cubs prop up ye olde "a leadoff hitter has to be able to steal a ton of bases" chestnut for no real reason at all.

    But he still takes less pitches and he scores far fewer runs. Besides, you can't just subtract Soriano's intentional walks. The kind of player he is draws him more of those types of walks. Is the end result the same? Yes. It's a walk.

    At the very least, he's more patient than Soriano. Theriot takes fewer pitches.

    Great point. the slow starters seem to be focusing only on the homers, but Lee was hitting like crazy. He was racking up doubles like nobody's business.

    Not really. Hillary could quit tonight. It could go all the way to the convention. And even if we do know the specific date the primary will die, the discussion could still continue. Both are going to live for the next couple weeks, because even if either thing hits a climax within a day or two, the discussion will continue. Even if it goes to the end, there's a set date as to when it will end. Even if it morphs into a national election thread, we know when that will end, too. If his point is to wonder when general political discussion will end as opposed to a thread about a Baltimore Oriole, well, then it's an even dumber comparison than I thought. My final thought on this whole mess is this:

    IT'S MARCH 12TH. What's your point? This is Spring Training. The time players need to get back to the grind, get their grooves back, brush up on the basics. Lee is not hitting. Lou wants him to work on it. Where is the problem? There is no problem. Lee not hitting in spring traning isn't a problem. Yeah, I'd rather him get off to a slow start again, no since in rushing him, he'll show up in June. He had a slow start last year coming off of a wrist injury. Traditionally, that was the exception, since he almost never has a "slow start" once the ACTUAL season starts.

    Lee's numbers really terrify me. I also think Ichiro is only going to have a grand total of 4 hits all season. And man, remember Nomar's titanic 2005 as a Cub? I don't think that season will ever be duplicated. And to think, it was all foreshadowed in his amazing ST performance! Jeepers!
