  1. Is that the only channel it's on? I just get a black screen when I go to it.
  2. Holy Christ, there has to be a single person here with Comcast in Chicago who can tell me what channel this is on.
  3. Anyone? I have Comcast, and have no idea what CSN+ is. I'm not seeing it on the guide anywhere.
  4. What the hell channel is this on in Chicago?
  5. Haven't you ever gone through the motions on something but your head wasn't really there? Walking to work Monday. I was so hungover I couldn't think straight and thought I was going to stumble into traffic at any time. I needed a half dozen cups of coffee just to look at the computer. did you manage to still OPS .970+ for a major league team that day? if so, you probably had what derosa has. He managed to get through traffic OK (batting stayed fine), but the computer skills went into the tank (several untimely defensive mistakes). See? If it was due to a hangover from several weeks prior.
  6. What is a "situation favorable to Pie?" How about batting him somewhere he'll see something to hit? When Johnson plays, he's got Lee and Ramirez hitting behind him. When Pie plays, he has the pitcher "protecting" him. Yeah, that's fair. I think/ hope he's hitting 8th so he'll learn to take a walk, and eventually wind up batting 2nd (not ideal but I've given up on the idea of DeRosa there). I guess it's early and we just have to wait and see. Wouldn't it be funny if the Orioles finished the season with a better record than the Cubs? Putting developing players into the pressure spots at the top of the lineup is usually not a good idea.
  7. Haven't you ever gone through the motions on something but your head wasn't really there? Then it would make more sense that it would effect his overall play and not just manifest itself in a couple of random errors.
  8. The only time he was "not able to prepare" was when he had to take time to get his damn heart fixed.
  9. please explain how he's distracted on defense, yet perfectly fine on offense. Not only that, he said it was on his mind...in spring training...weeks ago...when the trade talks were actually going on and in the news. Why would it still be "distracting" him now?
  10. If you're saying that he showed he can actually pick up a bat and not drop it, I completely agree with you.
  11. He always had plan and a way out and stuff.
  12. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-080407-kosuke-fukudome-chicago-cubs-piniella,0,7789593.story I had a sudden image of Kosuke turning around to bat RH against a LOOGY late in a tight game, ala Rocky II. Maybe he has an identical twin, who has the exact same skill set, who wants to play CF? =P~ Now the talk of him being a robot doesn't seem so ridiculous...and is actually a little terrifying.
  13. I don't know or care whether leadoff is a position or not as that is semantics. I do know you must have capable on base players at the top & we don't have that. Roberts is clearly one of the best in the game & I feel would provide a huge boost to a struggling lineup. The Cubs have scored almost half a run more per game than they did last year, when they finished 8th. They're on pace for 833 runs, which would have finished third in the NL a year ago. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?! THIS LINEUP IS STRUGGLING AND THEY NEED A BOOST OF VITAMIN ROBERTS.
  14. This sounds completely nonsensical.
  15. Pushing Aramis or Lee down to 5th is just dumb. Getting DeRosa less AB's makes little sense so long as we maintain the gaping offensive hole that is SS. Roberts makes this team marginally better. You could arguably replicate his effect, or come close, on the team by putting DeRo and Fukudome in the top two slots. The cost it would take to get Roberts isn't worth it since he isn't dramatic enough an upgrade from what this team already has available to it. Use those pieces to get a decent SS and/or starter, please.
  16. I think DeRos' anxiety over the trade talks and now the talks over him undergoing radical cyborg procedures have gotten him nervously talking to Sorino about it, and so Sori is having sympathy anxiety and stress which is hurting his play. Brian Roberts, on the other hand, thrives on human misery, and that's why he's doing very well.
  17. What is a "situation favorable to Pie?" Facing righties when his wrist isn't hurt? Obviously, but Brasky's post seemed a bit beyond that.
  18. What is a "situation favorable to Pie?"
  19. Tha's kind of scathing insight I expect from a man who willingly goes by "Buster" as his professional name.
  20. Distracted robots eating old people's medicine.
  21. So are you thinking that Lou has found favor with Reed Johnson over Pie? With Soriano and Ramirez relatively cold as ice, I can see him looking for a little more production. I seriously doubt you have anything to worry about concerning Pie's grasp on CF. Johnson does little to replace the type of production Soriano and Ramirez are counted on for. Move DeRosa to #2 and you likely get the same results and Pie still gets his AB's. Anything else is just an excuse to get a bench player more starts.
  22. Pie's got a dinged up hand, Johnson is seeing the ball well and producing, and there's another left hander going for the Pirates tomorrow. We're talking about a game or two here. This isn't about the "big picture", it's a temporary thing. Come back in off the ledge. Not really. We're talking 4 straight games after tomorrow, including against righties. 4 of 8 games does not equate to a game or two here and there, a breather, or little breaks. 4 of 8 is not a good sign, if it's a sign of anything. Exactly.
  23. You can give the man metal limbs, but you can't give him a metal soul. He'd obviously just be a cyborg distracted by the trade rumors, which would lead to him accidentally crushing babies with his metal claws and enslaving humanity.
  24. At the very least they need to let him get as many starts against righties through the ASB. Given the track records of Latin players around his age, at least a full year is ideal. If the Cubs wise up and upgrade SS, they can easily handle Pie's growth.
