  1. ...other teams? I'm looking over places like BP and I'm probably just being equal doses of blind and stupid, but I can't find such a breakdown.
  2. And "the government is lying about 9/11" and "LHO didn't shoot JFK alone."
  3. Nobody is expecting him to start reguarly in LF when Soriano is back and healthy. We're talking about Murton starting while Soriano is out and Lou's tendencies to give up on promising young players when they don't perform right away. I'm sorry if I'm picking on you, but has he really shown a tendency to do this? Maybe Pie is evidence enough, but historically, he's had young guys that were given plenty of chances to succeed in Arod and Griffey. I know Pie is not of their caliber, but as our top position prospect I agree he should be getting more opportunities. That was then, this is now. I don't care what Lou did in the past...I care about what I see him doing while running the Cubs. You're right. Poor Hill, Marmol, Soto, and Theriot never getting chances to play last year or this year because they are young. Damn you Lou! You can make the argument that Lou hasn't given the right young players the chances, but that isn't what you're saying here. As it is you're simply being extremist and allowing your observation to be easily dismissed as reactionary. Which doesn't excuse making poor decisions. He doesn't get a pass for stumbling upon the right move. Hill had already establihed himself the 2nd half of the seaosn before Lou even got here. Marmol was added to the bullpen out of necessity. Soto is actually not the best point, since Lou dragged his feet giving him playing time untilt he very end. Theriot isn't a "young prospect" a la Pie, and it can be very easily argued that sticking with Theriot last season was a horrible one. How is this helping Lou's case?
  4. Personally, two solid months of regular starts.
  5. If this is a FJM-esque bit of sarcastic commentary, it's brilliant. If not...GUH?!?
  6. Fair enough. I'd still like to see Felix get more starts.
  7. No, they should put out the team that will give them the best chance of winning on a given night. Right now, Johnson gives them a much better chance than Pie does. This isn't directed towards you... just a general statement. But it seems like some people are fans of Pie first and the Cubs second. I'm a fan of the Cubs finally developing another quality position player, which Felix has a really, really good chance of being. The team's offense recently demonstrates that in no way is Reed Johnson the person they need in there for them to win. Again, I have no problem with him getting the start in the last two games as they faced lefties, but with how this team has been raking, Felix should be in there more due to the "safety net" of the team's general offense.
  8. Haubrich, do you have a bigger version of your sig pic that can be used as desktop wallpaper? The bigger versions I can find seem to be grainer, oddly cropped versions.
  9. His numbers last year were drastically inflated by his one insanely good month, which is what I fear could easily happen agan this year. I DARE YOU TO PROVE US WRONG, TINY CAJUN.
  10. I know, hence why this thread is not built on blind faith, but the idea of magically juryrigging Theriot into a serviceable starter.
  11. OK, he's clearly hitting out of his mind, and he's not gonna stay at this level, but maybe, MAYBE, he can have a serviceable season. It's not like I want the guy to fail...I've just always expected him to. Hell, I still do in the long run, but if he manages to put together a decent season instead of a crappy one propped up by an insanely good month like last season, more power to him and hopefully bringing some stability that helps remind Lou to start Pie some more. So this is my positive vibes thread to hopefully help Theriot not suck. I'm not sure how it helps...maybe we'll combine voodoo and prayer and some kind of terrifying osmosis to KEEP. THERIOT. GOOD. Make me feast upon a mountain of crow, you insufferable little midget.
  12. A "journeyman" outfielder who is on his second team? I'm posting from 5 years into the future. And no, the Cubs still haven't won a WS.
  13. The ironic thing is that the Cubs' offense doing so well should be encouragement to play Felix more, since they could deal with him struggling more easily with all the runs being scored. Yes, the last couple of games were aganst lefties, so Johnson should have started, but acting like he's the lynchpin of this offense and needs to be in there as much as possible aganst all pitchers isn't realistic. The team is showing they can work around a young player adjusting right now, and they should capitalize on that as opposed to making as much time as possible for a journeyman riding a hot streak.
  14. If Pie is sent down, someone is getting punched in the taint.
  15. It would be flat out stupid to wait that long. Get our better hitters more AB's, ASAP.
  16. #5 #5 #5 #5 #5
  17. Unfair expectations? That doesn't really apply to expecting people to not be jackasses.
  18. Yeah, boy, that DeRosa sure has been an unreliable, terrible hitter this year. Man, you nailed that one. I like my crow medium rare please You haven't gorged on it several times already? DeRosa has been anything but a bad hitter for the Cubs this year.
  19. Nobody is expecting him to start reguarly in LF when Soriano is back and healthy. 20. Yeah, boy, that DeRosa sure has been an unreliable, terrible hitter this year. Man, you nailed that one.
  21. Hey, at least he's playing today. Funny thing is, I'd rather he not be. Theriot does a good impression of a lefty killer, and I'd like to see DeRosa at second and Murton in left. Limited sample size, but Cedeno has much better numbers against the hurler than Theriot today. If both weren't in, Cedeno definitely would have been the smarter choice.
  22. Good loafing by Aramis gets him to 3rd on the Fuku-single.
  23. he shouldn't even be given a chance to keep it up god i hate his white ass so badly if i see him start another game for this team i am going to start bleeding out of my eye sockets L0LERZZZ, YEAH, DAT WHUT EVERY1 IZ SAYIN!!!1!!!1!!
  24. The problem is and was that there simply are no realistic options for upgrading SS. Who are we going to trade for that is going to produce at a level that would allow us to put an automatic out in the lineup for two plus months. I'm leaning toward trading Pie. He's the type of player that is hard for a contending team to break in because, as has been stated over and over, he is the type of player that is going to struggle for several months at least before he starts producing. If he's not going to be given the chance, he needs to be traded NOW, while he still has value. The Cubs gain nothing putting him on the bench and he's already destroyed AAA so there's no point in sending him down. How do you know there are no realistic options to upgrade at SS? The Cubs have shown zero indication of even attempting to do so or think about doing it...we have no idea what teams are willing to deal. That said, as much as I would rather see a better SS brought in, Theriot is producing at the moment, which makes it even dumber that the Cubs don't play Pie as much as possible. This team CAN afford to have one slot used mostly to help a promising young players exactly because they are a contending team.
