  1. Webb and Haren for now. A lot of the duos up there are damn impressive, but those two just so consistently lock it down. Sheets and CC are up there, but the looming injury threat with Sheets and that both will likely be split up just doesn't give me that nervous feeling Webb and Haren do. If Harden can stay healthy, I think he and Z will be up there.
  2. I'm admiring a naughty website.
  3. Ichiro is having an awful year, by the way, does anyone know why? He's 34 and was vastly overrated in his prime anyway? I'm sorry, i was impressed by a guy setting the single season record in hits. Silly me. I admire your honesty. I admire your ignorance. Please expound. It's a slow Saturday.

  5. Good to see Aramis listened to me. Much appreciated, big guy.
  6. I thought this was going to be an academic breakdown of the 15% roostersuckers that showed up to day games.
  7. At home, Dempster.
  8. I really doubt the Pirates are sitting around plotting to sabotage the Cubs. The Cardinals and Cubs have such a rivalry, fine, maybe something between them in such a situation, but such a thing doesn't seem too likely here.
  9. i guess you aren't satisfied with his .375/.463/.607 line in august? i guess you are pining for the normal aramis rather than the ted williams that he's been this month? OPS+ the last 5 years: 138, 135, 126, 129, 130 EqA: .307, .302, .292, .293, .297 so i have to say that i have no idea what you're referring to. I should have clarified...I'm a simplistic creature yearning for more HR power out of the 3-4 slots where it's typically found on most teams. Aramis isn't having a bad year at all, but his odd slack (for him) in the HR department combined with Lee's regression to the norm is a tad frustrating given the typical expectations of those spots in the lineup. The power boost throughout the various memebers of most of the 5-8 slots over the year have obviously helped make up for it, but I'd prefer to see the 2 guys in front of them, especially Aramis, to be adding more of their own. who doesn't want to see Lee and Ramirez power up? lucky that others have been carrying their weight. they went into a coma last post-season, would be nice if they were awake for this one. It's worrisome to think that the Cubs might have to rely on a group of players who are overproducing in October, because it's very likely they will no longer be overproducing at that point. Those players should be augmenting the performances of the 3-4 hitters, not making up for them for huge chunks of the season.

  11. Well, at least the good starters/relievers will be rested and ready to go. Aramis can start being Aramis again any day now, please. It's awesome that 5-8 slots have been so consistently productive this season, but the 3-4 slots are getting rather laughable.
  12. Cedeno wisely laid off a pitcher not hnitting the zone who managed to get some mercy calls on some corner pitches. It happens. He didn't get anything good to hit.
  13. You act like everyone is saying Hoff is the next coming of Christ. Most people are saying he's doing well in AAA right now and could probably help us in RF this year. Is he the answer to all our problems? Of course not. I would expect Hendry or whatever GM we have this offseason to go after a legit RF and maybe move Fukudome to CF. I don't see why you can't let Pie, Hoff, and Dubois complete for the LF/CF job in spring training and sign Edmonds as a cheap lefty bat off the bench. At that point you have two great backup plans, and I really see Pie and/or Hoff breaking out in the bigs next year. If DuBois or Hoffpauir are competing to be starters next year, we're going to have a serious problem. No kidding. What a horrifying scenario, including resigning Edmonds.
  14. Sorry, I'll let it get back to you complaning about rants that barely exist.
  15. Please show me where Ricky Nolasco and/or Juan Pierre have been running topics of discussion/ranting over this season.
  16. It's a 1 page thread that's been prolonged most by your harping over the non-existent harping.
  17. People are talking about this particular trade. In the context of this trade, it was a bad move. Everything else is negated by your insane revelation.
  18. Way to completely make all of that up.
  19. Or he could have been used in a deal to get someone of lasting value. That hypothetical is just as valid as yours.
  20. This gem from the guy complaining about a silent protest supposedly causing violence.
  21. O-line looking shockingly effective tonight. I'd love to see Rex working with that kind of time and protection, though Orton looking rather solid. Granted, this is the 49's, which makes the Bears' defense's ugly play thus far all the more embarassing. Garret Wulf (Wolf?) is tiny.
  22. Hoff will be up in September. In the meantime, the Cubs can afford to have one player in the doldrums so long as Lou bats him low in the order with the way the rest of the lineup is producing.
  23. He struck out against the Marlins over the weekend. He also had a hit in that game. If these Reds were patient Z would be walking them all. nope, z pinch hit on saturday and i think he struck out or flied out to center. His streak is in games where he is also the starting pitcher.
