  1. Does this guy realize that Thome can't be anything besides a DH at this point and has been that way for most of the time he's been with the White Sox?
  2. Uh-oh, somebody's got a case of the Tuesdays.
  3. While I agree with the giving up the season part, why not pull Gregg from the role an see if Marmol or Guz are capable? If they look like they can handle it, maybe they can keep the job next year. If not, we'll need to get one in the ofseason, as I really dont see Gregg back next year. Not that Gregg should stay in the role, but seeing if a reliever can "do the job" right now is very easily not indicative of whether or not they'll be able to do it again the next season.
  4. I know what you're saying, and I don't mind the hits either....as long as they're singles. You can't give up homers in the closer's role, and this guy is addicted to gopher balls. I'd like to know what Gregg's SLG against is this year. It's gotta be over .500. How many homers is that for Gregg? 12? The two things you cannot do as a closer is walk people and give up home runs, and Gregg has been doing both all year. Yeah, I could live with the guys getting on base so long as the job generally got done, but he's simply giving up way too many home runs. I'd like to think Guzman will be used instead for the time being, but knowing Lou he'll think Marmol is the guy for the job.
  5. Oh, [expletive]. Marmol is warming up. Please add some runs, Jake.
  6. Yesssssssssssssssss...it's so sweet to be wrong. Please only use Marshall and Guzman, Lou.
  7. I say strikeout, linedrive right at an infielder and then fly out.
  8. Was not expecting that. Though someone on 3rd and no outs? Talk about Cubs' kryptonite.
  9. Where he left off as in Peoria right? Because his last start out in the Majors was horrible lol You know what I mean; shut up. First intentional use of the semicolon in board history? That's how I roll.

  11. Lilly picking up where he left off. Very good to see.
  12. I always call them the '86 Bears because of when the Super Bowl is played even though I know it's not technically correct. It's what I was doing as a kid and it just stuck ever since.
  13. Sandberg and Sweetness for me. One died young and the other is pretty annoying, childhood ruined for me. I loved the '86 Bears, but for some reason I was much more a fan of guys like The Fridge, Dent, Singletary and Dan Hampton over Payton. It's not like I disliked WP, but I guess to a 7-year-old he didn't seem as "large as life" as some of the other guys on that team. I definitely lost it, however, when he announced that he was sick. That one hurt.
  14. When I was a kid Sandberg was easily my favorite pro athlete besides Jordan. That said, it's become abundantly clear over the years that I was a fan of him as a player and that's it.
  15. Good. It would be nice if they could skip Wells at least once along the way, too.
  16. The only thing I can assume you're talking about would be are the references to a poster who had an insane hate for Ryne Sandberg. Some of her choice lines are quoted when he's brought up. There's that and that most of us seem to think he would not be a very good manager.
  17. +1 Yeah, it's not like any of this has been said ad nauseum in a ton of other threads. It's more a response to the "OK, *I* know what the deal is, so here's THE thread to settle it all....even though I'm just repeating things that have been said again and again and again already."
  18. The greatest.
  19. Siriusly.
  20. There's really no excuse to not win this.
