    Is this even something that's coming up? Who is on the Cubs now or was on them in recent history who was openly or busted as being racist? And how is Bradley a "distraction" to anyone besides the fans and the media? Are people really thinking that other players on the team are somehow doing poorly because they have Bradley or his comments on their mind?

    Crappy news, but the title's pretty redundant. You'd think a lot of people would be very excited about that curable cancer thing. "Untreatable cancer" would be more accurate. Yes, I know it's nitpicking.

    I guess I'm a "Soriano defender" but I wanted him DLed long ago for however it long it took to deal with the knee and I want him to sit the rest of the season because of the knee. He's not doing anyone any good playing hurt and the Cubs are stupid for playing him in this condition given how much they'll need out of him next year.

    Part of that is inflated by him hitting out of his mind since the trade to St. Louis. It is no way realistic to assume that his performace as a Cardinal thus far would be indicative of his career onwards. Again, he's a good hitter and he clearly got off to a slow start this year, but he's simply not as good as he's been so far with the Cardinals. Yes, and part of that is because of his HORRIBLE start this year. Obviously he is not 1.116 OPS good. But he is not .648 OPS bad either. And agreed, and I never said he was as good as he as been playing. And nobody said he's as bad as he was at the start of the year.

He actually has somewhat of a jawline in that GQ picture. A jaw holding up a very swollen and blubbery face.

    Given how he's played since being traded and depending on how far the Cardinals go plus having Boras as his agent I'm going to guess...something disgusting.

    He could do both. Run Milton out of town and make a big splash by signing Matt Holliday. That would be a terrible splash. I'd love that move. Matt Holliday's career: .318/.387/.547 Milton Bradley's career: .279/.373/.453 Holliday is also two years younger, stays healthier and considerably less volatile. In a perfect world I'd love to have Holliday over Bradley, but Holliday is going to cost an obscene amount of money. As good as a hitter as he is I'll be stunned if whatever team gets him doesn't have to vastly overpay for him. That's not the kind of "splash" I want to see the new owners making. If they're going to overpay for someone, overpay for someone who "deserves" it as opposed to a guy with Coors-inflated numbers (though he is obviously still a good hitter away from there).

    No, it's pretty much all offense. You are going to have games where you allow a few too many runs to score. But if you are 5th in the league in ERA (and R allowed), and 10th in runs scored with a 90 team OPS+, and you are a couple games over .500, that's the offense's fault, plain and simple, no argument. Exactly.

    This statement is so very not true. The May-June garbage was all the fault of the offense, but as far as the August slide goes, the pitching is just as responsible. Oh, gee, the pitching dropped near the end of the year when 3 of the starters ended up on the DL. I'm stunned that the pitching that month wasn't up to par with the previous months. The number of easily winnable games that the Cubs' pitching provided that the offense simply could not do anything to win over most of the season caused far more damage than the pitching in August.

    Lou's inability to manage a bullpen is beyond ridiculous. Astros are down by 2. Tejada on 1st. Carlos Lee is coming up. So Lou brings in Gregg. Genius. I swear to Christ, it's like the opposing team's phone goes to the Cubs' bullpen.

    They could not have traded Lee after last season. They explored the option and basically dropped it when Lee made it clear he would exercise his NTC.
