  1. If you had told me early in the season we'd face Lincecum at home without Lee, Aramis, Bradley, Soriano and Soto I would have set you on fire after punching you many, many times.
  2. Why would anyone be congratulating Miles for anything?
  3. OK, NOW the horror begins.
  4. That really doesn't seem too good an idea if he can still give you around 25 starts a year. Those 25 starts would be much more valuable than time out of the pen.
  5. So if he can't start 30 or more games he should be relegated to the bullpen?
  6. There's little need to do this at this point. Moving a quality starter to the bullpen is either a move of necessity or desperation and Harden is not near either point. He shown repeatedly that with a little extra rest and some skipped starts he's often one of the best pitchers going. You'd think the Cubs would be able to follow something so obvious and yet here we are.
  7. They said they're not going to often him arbitration?
  8. It's more likely that his neck was already aggravated from the slide on the stolen base. His spasms have seemed to show up most consistently after a baseslide.
  9. Yes, by the Twins. A deal was not worked out.
  10. I'm not letting anything cloud my judgement of the cell. I'll happily go see a baseball game in person regardless of who is playing and compared to places like Camden or PNC the Cell is a dull as can be. And what about compared to Great American, Busch, or Miller? You compared it to what many consider to be two of the top recent stadiums. Let me guess, it isn't as nice as New Yankee Stadium either :) . The fact of the matter is the place is a fine place to enjoy a ballgame. I definitely have enjoyed games at Busch and Miller much more than the Cell. I thought Great American was OK but rather unremarkable, much like the Cell.

  12. There is nothing wrong with an anti-Santo sentiment, at least referring to him as an announcer. He's a joke of a broadcaster. Of course he is. That's why he's relegated to being the color guy on the radio broadcast. It would be one thing if the entire radio team was horrible, but given that he's paired with a pro like Hughes it's not like Santo is running the show. You still get the PBP from one of the best in the business and the added bonus of a lovable idiot spazzing out.
  13. I've never been there, though I live less than a mile from it, but I would say that one thing that keeps it from being a truly, beautiful park is the Sox fans themselves. That and it's the last of the wave of truly unremarkable and dull cookie cutter parks. Sox aside, it's simply a really dull ballpark.
  14. I've long longed for at least a renovation of Wrigley and would have no problem with a new stadium in Chicago.
  15. Between rooting for the White Sox, thinking that the Cell is "beautiful" and your anti-Santo sentiment this is all terribly suspect.
  16. ? For those of us who have quit watching, whats this about? He made a great leaping catch to rob Theriot of a single that would have driven in Scales from 3rd and tied the game.
  17. Look, he's already the footballknowitall; he can't also be the baseballknowitall.
  18. It never ceases to amaze me how he's been built up into this incredible impact player.
  19. He has no business starting a MLB game right now. I wish the FO would stop being jackasses and just let him sit in the minors for a full season and work on stuff. Instead of jacking him around from the minors and majors 20 times a season. While having him up in the pen throughout the season at this point is stupid, I don't see the harm in letting him get an actual start right now with the Cubs all but out of it and the minor league season done.
  20. Oh my God, HE'S MARK-FREAKIN'-DEROSA.
  21. That's what I was thinking. This season really killed you guys this much by being in 1st place as late as August? And on the miserable to root for, this team isn't in the same galaxy as '04. I really don't understand. I think it's right there with '04, but neither of those compares to '05 and '06. Well I meant the more, I hate these [expletive] and the way they act(i.e. Moises Alou) But yeah, if you didn't flinch during the [expletive] parade that was the '06 season, how the hell do you give up this year? Beats me. I don't know how this year can possibly be a breaking point for someone who has been a Cubs fan for any significant period of time.
  22. Alright, I take back my doom and gloom over Cameron. I didn't know he had been that consistently useful.
  23. I'd have zero problem firing Hendry after this season if there's any kind of significant money to spend. If there's not I'd rather just hold onto Hendry until there is. I don't see the point of saddling a new GM with a mess they can't do much of anything about via the payroll. If trades are the only moves that can be made I'll take my chances with Hendry until the pursestrings can be opened or some money is off the books.
  24. As well as the Cardinals have run their organization I can't imagine that they're going to be too interested in resigning DeRosa unless he can be had for VERY cheap.
