  1. What "philosophy of fear?" Nobody is afraid of firing Hendry.
  2. "Strategy"-wise, I see little difference between this year's Lou and, well, any other year he's been a manager. The main difference is that with the Cubs he hasn't thrown his little hissyfits as often as he did in the past, but beyond that he seems to be the same Lou when it comes to managing.
  3. Nobody's said that. I haven't said it in this thread, but I have said something that could be misconstrued for that if one were really, really dumb. Namely, that firing Hendry for the sake of firing him doesn't do us any good if don't hire a better GM. I wouldn't really see the point of firing Hendry if the best replacement we can muster is Jim Bowden, for instance. Exactly. I said something somewhat similar where I don't see the point of firing Hendry now if there's no significant payroll for a new GM to work with. It seems redundant to saddle a new GM with Hendry's mess without the financial means to do anything about it. I've also said that while I'm not opposed to Hendry ultimately being fired I have little confidence that his replacement will be any better.
  4. Probably not. Most managers are terrible like that.
  5. Nobody's said that.
  6. Lou manages to even mismanage a good bullpen when he has one, so God help the team he manages that has only an average or below average one. I have no idea why Lou seemed to think Wuertz was a guy to be used pretty much only to put out fires and bring him in with people already on base.
  7. None of those three will be a starter next season, and rightfully so.
  8. Am I alone in the thought that a team takes on the identity of its' coach? Are you discounting that entirely? Yes, because it's a horrible idea since most MLB managers are terrible. I'm not so much discounting it as I am hoping to God that it's not true.
  9. Can someone please point me to the reasoning as to why Soriano HAS to bat 6th? Why not just slide him up to 5th and bat Soto 6th? If either aren't having a repeat of the Year of Assiness it seems like it should work.
  10. One would think it wouldn't be necessary to explain how Ozzie's rants have little to nothing to do with the abilities of the baseball players he manages and the games they play.
  11. Tell me more, tell me more.
  12. LULZ Only .900? Glad to see your expectations are so reasonable, especially towards a guy who has managed that only once in his career.
  13. Let cutler choose the play. I think you may be on to something, Ron The Eli Manning Effect? Except less [expletive].
  14. You'd think if Wells was that bad they'd already have the book on him. He's pitched almost the whole season in the majors and had pretty consistent success. I wasn't a believer in the beginning, but at this point I think he has a pretty good chance of being a decent starter. He's been getting knocked around rather consistently towards the end of the season for a somewhat significant period of time now. That could be just be fatigue, but I'd still prefer to have Harden around instead of dumping him like Wells is a sure thing.
  15. There's a really good chance Wells gets clobbered next year with the book out on him, plus the Cubs should not be counting on Shark for anything except for some starts if injuries take out enough starters. He needs to be down in the minors starting on a regular basis. Not offering Harden arbitration blooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwws.
  16. Hester with one of the dorkiest celebration dances I've ever seen. Gotta work on that, son.
  17. How does Ron Turner manage to dress himself?
  18. That and you're a misery junkie.
  19. Why the [expletive] was he reaching?
  20. BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!! What a dolt.
