  1. the man can't go over, that's not how the soft cap works. you can only go over if you're signing your own players. Ah, gotcha. I thought it was an issue of paying some kind of luxury tax or something.
  2. Do the Nets actually have room for two max FA's or is it just assumed that their money-mad Russian owner will just pay what it takes to go over? That guy is like a James Bond villain come to life, what with him actually [expletive] FINDING GOLD and, of course, being all mixed up with Putin.
  3. Noah seriously needs to be on that list. He sure as hell is a much better choice than Buerhle.
  4. Every team is awesome when they play the CUBS !!!! How pathetic is it that we have a losing record and we've played teams like the Pirates, Nationals, Astros, and Diamondbacks? We haven't even played actual good teams yet. We'll be lucky if we win 70 games this year. With Lee and Aramis being terrible and Lou's screwy lineups the Cubs are little better, if at all, than those teams.
  5. I had ESPN 1000 on as I was going to bed and was cracking up at the late night guy ranting about how "the LeBron-Kobe question has been answered" like Kobe was the only player worth a [expletive] on the Lakers and their success is due only to him. Yeah, it's not like the Lakers aren't arguably the best team in the NBA right now. Enjoy late nights, jerk store.
  6. Unless they know he's not coming back no matter what.
  7. The bold text is completely false. You had a few people here gung-ho for Lou, but most were vehemently opposed against hiring him even when it was just being suggested before Dusty was actually gone. When Lou was got hired the general consensus beyond those fanatical few was basically "at least he's not Joe Girardi/it could be worst" in terms of being positive.
  8. This division is an embarrassment.
  9. Wow, what a [expletive] embarrassing end for the Cavaliers.
  10. So you think there's no chance that this is actually my opinion and I'm only posting it to be contrary? What the hell would be the point?
  11. Good Lord, it's like we broke you.
  12. Hendry should be fired. Lou should just be allowed to walk when his deal is up at the end of the season.
  13. Best part of this is this guy thinking Cleveland could have been redeemed.
  14. What was the big deal about a decrepit vacant dump being torn down for housing projects? because it was in New York. durrr What would be the big deal if a crappy, overgrown stadium where nobody ever won anything was torn down in Chicago to make room for overpriced north side condos? It's all in the dumb ass symbolism.
  15. Outside of Cubs fans, though, why should the 1969 team be anything but a blip over the history of the game? They were hardly the first or last highly touted and impressive team that tanked. What is there to talk about with Wrigley outside of its very superficial reputation based on its appearance and age? What of significance has really occured there that merits it getting more than a passing mention at best? The Polo Grounds demolition was dwelled on because it was a big deal. If Wrigley was demolished it would get the same attention, and it would finally merit actually being talked about outside of "that's a nice place to see a game" and "boy, this place is old."
  16. I'm sorry, but how can anyone honestly expect a baseball documentary about the last 15 years to not focus most of its time on the Yankees, Red Sox, the home run race, Cal Ripken and steroids? What the [expletive] else is going to merit significant time? Outside of the White Sox and how their winning the '05 WS can link back to the old timey [expletive] Burns gets a boner over, what else is there that merits little more than a passing mention at most?
  17. YEAH! How stupid of Burns to spend most of the time on the biggest baseball stories of the last 15 years. What a [expletive] moron. He should spend more time on memorable winning teams like the Angels and theZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
  18. I have no problem with Castro out of the 8 spot, its just funny to me that once again Lou says one thing repeatedly, and then within a week he completely ignores what he said. In a related story, Tyler Colvin has started once in the month of May. Because it's only May 12th and all of the regular OF are much better.
  19. Anybody in the draft that fills the role as sharpshooter? That's what I'm asking. I don't really follow college sports at all, so who fills that roll in the draft that the Bulls have a shot at? How much is he likely going to cost? Is he what the Bulls actually need given how devoid they are of shooters? I don't follow the Celtics that closely, so how is he holding up at 34? Last night was impressive, but is he consistently going out there as a weapon or is he just pulling big games out of his ass from time time or inconsistent due to age/injury?
  20. So what do the Bulls do in regards to getting a shooter if they somehow land LeBron? Who is out there for the money they have left?
  21. Castro being in the 8 spot is dumb. I actually like most of that lineup.
  22. Damn, I miss Scott GF now that I remember him. Did he ever come back after the nightmare of the 2006 season?
  23. What a great thread. It's nice to see that most of the regular posters were opposed to Lou even before he was hired and that the spazzes who wanted him were invariably of the "he'll bring passion and fire and be the spark that these guys need!" type. Oh, and he'll hold players accountable for sucking. HUZZAH!!!
