  1. Holy crap. Now THAT'S worth some wailing and gnashing of teeth.
  2. Sure there was. He's demonstrated a number of excellent, patient AB's already in his short career. I'm not trashing the guy as a player; it was just a very, very bad AB. I know you're not trashing the player but he hasn't had an at bat close to that magnitude. Personally, I don't think it's one that should have that much "magnitude." It's not like he was coming up with any outs. Yeah, the Cubs need that run, but it's not like his back was against the wall when he stepped into the batter's box. He had a ton of room to work with what Contreras was pitching him. I have little doubt he'll take a lot away from this one.
  3. Potential epic meltdown happening for the Reds. They went into the bottom of the 9th in Atlanta up 9-3, but Atlanta has scored 3 and has the bases loaded with Hayward up and no outs.

  5. You'd swear the Cubs just lost something like 38-2 to the Royals with some of the reactions to a game like this.
  6. We don't have anybody who has a clue about fundamental baseball. We got a bunch of hackers, not enough hitters. Tough to blame Castro for being over anxious but the Ramirez and Sota at bats were horrible. I've got plenty of blame for Castro. Contreras wasn't pitching well at all and he went up there hacking at every pitch. Ah well, close game. The Cubs played the best team in the NL down to the wire and split the mini-series. Get on the plane and start another winning streak tomorrow.
  7. Because Fukudome has always been horrific against LH pitchers and there's a good chance that Nady will end up hitting more like he has over his career.
  8. Soriano trying to take out Lou and do us all a favor.
  9. His career year was 2008, and he didn't play last year. They said from the beginning he wouldn't be 100% until June. And he still had a decided OPS advantage against LHP going into today. I don't see what the problem is. So, you value a .611 OPS vs LHPs from a guy who is not 100% healthy and missed a year over a guy who has a career .667 OPS vs. LHPs and has hit everything in sight from the RHPs he has faced all year? When you consider the defensive advantage Fukudome has, there's no reason to keep running Nady out there without even a thought of putting Kosuke in there. No we value the guy who has a .302 .376 .464 .840 career line against LH pitchers over Kosuke against LH pitchers.
  10. GRABOW, YOU [expletive]. ROLLINS CAN'T HIT LEFTIES TO SAVE HIS LIFE THIS YEAR.
  11. Dammit, we needed the patented Howard DP against LH pitchers.
  12. Utley's OPS against LH is over 500 points better than against RH this year. Good job, Loucifer.
  13. Uh, what? You'd rather the Cubs just looked like crap for the rest of the game? I rather lose convincingly than via a walk-off. You're going to have to help me here...how is losing 4-1 more "convincing" than losing, say, 5-4 on a walk off?
