  1. Stop demanding things you couldn't possibly ever provide yourself.
  2. So 5 starts for Strasberg before he pitches the best game in MLB history? Wood would probably kill for the career Strasburg is likely about to start.
  3. The same as I feel whenever I see any team that's not the Cubs win the WS? While Sandberg might someday manage a team that wins a WS, it will not have been won because of his managing
  4. Uh, what are you basing this on? Anyone rooting for Sandberg to manage the Cubs is still in a very small minority here. Basing on nothing more than my observations of the conversation I've seen here. Then in all honesty you might want to pay more attention. Hell, I don't know how you could come to that conclusion based on just this thread alone. Every time this topic comes up you have people coming out of the woodwork to rant about what a terrible idea it is, and rightly so. Look up about 6 posts. I don't recall seeing much of that at all before. I've seen several posts like it recently. That's one post. You said "consensus." A scattering of people at best who think it's a good idea or wouldn't mind it is not a consensus. The majority opinion here is still clearly against him managing the Cubs, or at least him managing them after this season with no MLB experience as a coach or manager. You've always had a few people here who have been in love with the idea of Sandberg working for the Cubs somehow.
  5. Fair enough. I think Strasburg is much, much better than Wood.

  7. It's the Pirates. I say 7+ innings 4 hits 1 walk 9 K's 1 ER 100 pitches

  9. Well its pretty idiotic to say colvin was a bad pick when he has had limited time in the majors. When you sign as a pick it does not make you a pro. Its until you're in the majors in my book. well, your book is wrong. Please explain? When you're paid to play baseball you're a professional baseball player. I'm not sure why you needed this very basic concept explained to you, but there you go.
  10. I don't know why you're low balling Soriano's chances with the voters. You're talking like like he wasn't voted an AS 7 of the last 8 years and isn't having a good season and doesn't have a ton of name recognition. My point is that I think Soriano's only chance of making it is as a starter (by vote) because of name recognition. The latest results show him 11th and about 300,000 votes behind the 3rd place OF. I think that Byrd has a better chance of being selected as a reserve than Soriano. Name recognition is basically all that matters with how this is decided.

  12. Lord, please let this happen.
  13. Dear God, no. Is that a "Dear God, no not this crap again!" or a "Dear God, no he's not as good as advertised and I want no part of him"? Or both? The latter. Speculation really doesn't impact me at all, so whatever.
  14. Yeah, there's that too. The warnings signs were there with Peavy well before he moved to the AL. There's a definitely a ton of pitchers who show that they're clearly benefiting from pitching in the NL as opposed to the AL, but between his elbow issues and his home and road splits in much of his latter career with the Padres, Peavy likely wouldn't fare too much better in the NL for long. And Willis was getting shellacked in the NL, too, hence his trade to the Tigers in the first place.
  15. It seems like Soto always manages to find the deepest part of the ballpark.
  16. I knew that no matter what restaurant I chose for my example, I'd get a comment like that of some sort...:P Yeah, but Pizza Hut is just intentionally aiming for the very worst of the worst.
  17. That just raises the more pressing question of who the [expletive] is ordering ANYTHING from Pizza Hut and what brought them to such a miserable life?
  18. I guess I should start posting in the Blackhawks thread about how I don't like hockey.
  19. Where have you been? The Cubs losing series to crappy teams is nothing new this year.
  20. Thanks a lot, Aramis. Great job by Lou, too, leaving Wells in there when it was obvious he was just repeating the first.
  21. Marlon is definitely burning it up this series.
