  1. You're going to drive yourself nuts with this, man.
  2. I'm gonna be at the Cubs' home opener, so hopefully whatever you do will offset me making the Cubs lose by at least 20.
  3. I think the only dongless dorks I have so far are Stanton, Judge and Willlllllllson.
  4. Sustained success! Nah though. Pitching is still weird and maybe next year our pitchers will be good. Only if the rest of the league decides to treat the Cubs' pitching like this:
  5. Yeah, I don't think the dude is getting fired even if this tiny sample size blows up into a gigantic disaster season; the FO already made things clear by pointing out that this is effectively a lame duck season if things don't go well, so they might as well just ride it out and part ways at the end of the season if they miss the playoffs (or make it and quickly exit via a short series of sad, mournful farts yet again). Firing Maddon earlier than that would be immensely awesome and satisfying (this is an objective fact, so shut up and throw your keyboard away), but I don't think for a second that they have any intention of escalating things beyond just mutually parting ways at the end of a contract with the guy who was technically manager when the Cubs finally won another WS. The only way I could see it going another way would be if he actually lives up to the Drinky Joe meme are starts calling out the players and the org publicly.
  6. We should probably accept that this is the beginning of the rebuild. Theo is here through 2021 anyway and he's good at those. That would just be finishing up the standard 3 year tank.
  7. Yeah, I've knocked them plenty of times for being too hung up on not moving "their guys," and was only about 75% of the time just being an obnoxious ass about it.
  8. Yeah, I remember (and agreed with) a lot of the talk being, "they'll stockpile up the dongmashers in terms of player development...and stumble across a few OK pitchers internally later or whatever," and they didn't even manage that.
  9. It's butt, because signing a baller hitter would ideally give the Cubs at least a bit more freedom to maybe work out some kind of a trade for a non-butt pitcher. it's kind of true though. i wanted harper badly but i also thought it was a little odd that everyone was seemingly cool with the pitching I don't think everyone was cool with the pitching at all. I was obnoxiously and loudly terrified of it, but plenty of other people here voiced far less annoying concerns, especially about the starters.
  10. Much like the man himself, Maddon hate is old and annoying. We need someone new to hate.
  11. Yeah, benching a guy who hit two huge dongs and looked really locked in just because it's a lefty on the mound is peak Joe "smartest guy in the room" garbage Keep Schwarber locked in a strict platoon...but will find tons of excuses to fit Almora in there no matter what.
  12. This is a good breakdown that makes me want to jump in front of a bus.
  13. Though it is sadly hilarious that, much like the surge in dongs, this super pitching appears to be something the Cubs were somehow missing out on. (Cue some jackass with stats about how the Cubs' strikeout numbers were actually amazing last year)
  14. More people liked this post than actually criticized the deal.
  15. It's butt, because signing a baller hitter would ideally give the Cubs at least a bit more freedom to maybe work out some kind of a trade for a non-butt pitcher.
  16. Lots of good stuff, but this... ....ouch. No, that sucks for a full time 1B, dude.
  17. Yeah, so many key parts of the pitching equation was handled along the lines of, "older pitchers with obvious issues who will be a year older and we'll just hope they figure it out and/or don't get hurt."
