I have no idea where the idea came from that Byrd isn't a starter. He clearly is, and can be very productive, but he has no business hitting 1-5 on this team. -

Why would you think that? Um, perhaps because that's what they've always been for? Ski was by far not the only one complaining about the Cubs today. No, not even a little bit. Game threads are for discussing the game, not saying things you know aren't true/are exaggerated just because you're annoyed. But saying things you know aren't true/are exaggerated because you're happy and excited is ok then. Got it. Double standard in effect. Of course. One is great and the other is awful.

There's complaining and being critical and then there's the "only the Cobs" garbage that of course you're not going to be annoyed by. Seriously, you had people saying the Pirates are the luckiest team in baseball. Let that sink in for a bit.

Technically, Johnson replaced Soriano in the Top of the 9th, but the point remains. Fukudome has to hit there. Yup. When Johnson took the AB I figured maybe Quade was doing something odd and was going to have him hit for Barney instead. Well, I guess I was hoping he was doing something weird, because I didn't want either to come up.

Were 1-2 and this one game won't mean much in the long run. This game sucks but it really isn't a huge deal. Shut up, I'm allowed to complain in the heat of the moment even though it isn't a big deal. That's what game threads are for. No.

Fukudome Castro Aramis Pena Soto Byrd Soriano Three-headed monster This isn't hard, Quade. It never made ANY sense to pencil Byrd in at #3 or #4 even with how Aramis and Pena played last year.

This is the first game I've been able to watch, but I don't have a problem with Garza attempting the 7th. He's given up his hits, but he hasn't been laboring(no walks or XBH, huge K numbers), and could quite easily finish off the 7th at < 110 pitches. And he did, I was more wary that it was, I think, the heart of their lineup and only a 4-3 game.

Haven't been a fan of Quade's management of his starting pitchers since he took over.
