  1. The Kershaw AB was hilarious. Between Kershaw reaching on a k because he knocked the wild pitch away with his bat as he dropped it to Baldy McBaby'sAss potty mouth I was rolling.
  2. Pretty much. The defense definitely could've tightened up, but even when they were in their face they were sinking a ton of monster shots.
  3. David Robinson's announcement was the worst, since it ended with Hakeem taking his soul I lol'ed.
  4. I really, really hope this game doesn't get people thinking the Bulls are in trouble this series. Not really but there is less margin for error now and that doesn't make me too confident when the Bulls have crapped the bed almost all playoffs. Less margin = the Hawks still have to win 3 more times. Not going to happen.

  6. Beast game by Johnson. Meh, Bulls still win it in 5 games.
  7. No idea. I thought I was pretty clear until davearm2 decided to respond to a single line out of context.
  8. The point I'm making is that the Ricketts haven't done anything to justify your "make money without having an elite team" comment. If the ticket prices and promotions turn you off, that's cool, but it's not indicative of ownership/organization not striving for an elite team. It's the opposite actually. I wasn't talking about just the Ricketts. I was talking about the business trends of the Cubs for a while. And yes, the Ricketts are most definitely trying their damndest to make money without an elite team right now. I have absolutely no idea why anyone would think otherwise. I also never said I think the Ricketts are going to stick to such an approach without trying to put together a better team. I made it abundantly clear in my previous posts in this thread that I understand the situation the Ricketts were buying in to and how it was going to take some time to turn things around. As I said I don't doubt they want an elite team, but it's going to take a bit of time and some luck until they have one. In the meantime they're going to have to look to make money without having a team like that.
  9. Gotta think the 3-5 spots are the big reason for this given how many times you've had Byrd and Pena manning either end and Aramis hitting but mostly seeing-eye singles.
  10. That wouldn't be preferred at all.
  11. Didn't say they were. Also, you selectively picked one line to respond to and spun it into something I wasn't really talking about in that post. I was talking about how the team has largely catered to casual fans in terms of drawing people to Wrigley and getting them to spend their money, not fans like you'll mostly find here. The point was referring primarily to things like steadily increasing ticket prices and promotions and the like.
  12. Yeah, somebody mentioned that and I couldn't find any evidence of it. I mentioned it once, but I was being sarcastic. Don't know if that's what you were referring to or not. It is. Green font, man.
  13. I feel sorry for anyone like that. Must be very frustrating and stressful.
  14. Doesn't matter. I can't imagine having any desire to follow the team or watch any games if I'm always expecting the worst. To me there's a gigantic difference between not being surprised at what happens and expecting the worst.
  15. Yeah, somebody mentioned that and I couldn't find any evidence of it. GAH, this game is just so frustrating; it's like a repeat of last year with the middle of the lineup just unable to muster the kind of performances you need when most of the rest of the lineup is performing. Yeah, I know Aramis' numbers aren't bad, but they're not what they desperately need right now minus the power and with Pena as cold as he is.
  16. screw statements like this we all saw it coming, but it doesn't make it any less infuriating. Pretty much. Anyone expecting that is an [expletive]. Just because I expected that to happen doesn't mean that I wanted it to, but I've been watching this team long enough to have much confidence in any other result. Lame. If you're expecting the worst, why even bother?

  18. Oh, but he's had something like 2 good games against this season! That totally, totally makes using him in this situation (after injuring himself the day before, no less) make all kinds of sense with Quade-logic.
  19. Ugh. Probably about to squander another runner at 2B with nobody out.
  20. Man, the Cubs have had the leadoff man on in 6 out of the 8 innings played and only have 3 runs. Meanwhile the DBacks get 3 of their 4 runs in a single inning where they only have a single and a bunt single.
