  1. Yes, boo Soriano for not diving headfirst into the [expletive] sidewall. Idiots.
  2. The starting pitching is already looking much better just from the big 3 alone (and a little from Coleman). If Dempster has another decent outing today that'll go a long way to showing that the pitching has turned a corner (bullpen's been really good, too).
  3. Quade is baffling. How about: Fukudome Castro Pena Aramis Soriano Soto DeWitt Byrd Better hitters further up the lineup, still a nice mix of righty and lefty hitters...IS THIS REALLY SO HARD?
  4. Wait, so you thought pitching would be their strength...and that the pitching would be terrible? 3 for 3 today, dude.
  5. Well, Vinestal has decided definitively that Pena sucks AND that Barney is the 2B of the future after one month. He knows things.
  6. Thats because so many people on these boards are busy eating the Darwin Barney crow. lol Slow down.
  7. Last 7 days: .313 .450 .875 1.325 Last 14 days: .222 .364 .556 .919 Excellent. What are the odds Quade keeps him buried in the lineup? Pretty damn good.
  8. Yeah, the Cubs are the ONLY MLB TEAM EVER to have an unfortunate or fluke-y ground rule double happen to them. You couldn't possibly have been serious with this, right? It's even more hilarious because you're complaining like the Cubs got cosmically hosed on a ball that Baker got a double off of that almost any CF is going to usually catch and should have been caught today.
  9. I am in awe from the power displayed by this team. I can feel the shockwaves from each titanic blast at Wrigley.
  10. Soriano's 5 for 42 against Arroyo with a .603 OPS. Plus Arroyo has pretty big right/left splits (although the Cubs left-handers don't have good numbers against him historically either). Gotcha. Thanks.
  11. Barney seems to encourage all the worst small ball aspects in a manger.
  12. Does Soriano have really bad career numbers against Arroyo or something? I know Castro is slumping, but it seems a bit much to sit both him and Soriano today.
  13. Hopefully this encourages him not to think of Colvin as THE RF of the future and instead as "OK, MAYBE this guy is the RF of the future." It's barely been a month; he'll get plenty of chances to get out there spelling Fukudome and Soriano.
  14. If either of them are the future of anything for the Cubs then the Cubs are fucked.
  15. On the upside it's a middling zero of a player that another team's fans will annoyingly latch on to instead of Cubs fans.
  16. Don't say that. I have tickets tomorrow. "Isolated and scattered" showers apparently = unstoppable deluge.
  17. Soto. Or even Soriano while he's this hot power-wise. If Pena is still looking improved through the weekend I'd put him there. Put someone there who is an actual threat to do some damage with a single swing. If Quade considers Pena at 3, I rather have him more Ramirez to 3 and Pena 4th. Doubt that'll happen with his Ramirez is batting 4th decree I threw Fuk at 3rd temporarily because his May stats are typically pretty solid as you've mentioned. I'm worried about the pitches Soriano would see if he were batting 3rd. He's absolutely murdering fastballs this year according to fangraphs. I think he'd see even less than he already does if he's that high in the lineup No problem at all with Soto 3rd. Right, Aramis is the ideal option but apparently Quade isn't ever going to do that so I'm just acting like it's not a possibility barring significant injuries to key players. Fukudome is solid in May, but not power-wise, and his power is even less apparent this year than the last three. I agree, Soriano isn't the ideal option, but since #3 seems to be a rotating cast why not slot Soriano in there while he's murdering home runs left and right and then move him out when he's cold? Better than trotting Byrd or Baker out there.
