  1. Tadd Walkah Czar Lovah with tatoos planted on his a**hole Hahahahahaah! Bueno.
  2. Todd Walker: czar-lover.
  3. I think we all get what Soriano is. So you think given the choice, the Red Sox would prefer just to keep the flawed, aging, declining baseball player they already have, and that their entire fanbase seems to despise, versus giving that whole change of scenery thing a chance with a guy that, incidentally, plugs a hole in their lineup and saves them from committing *another* $30M or whatever it would take to re-sign Ortiz. As per usual, it's not an either/or proposition. I think they'd prefer a different bad contract swap in regards to Lackey, and I think, yes, they'd rather either re-sign Ortiz or even go after someone like Fielder. Or a different option at DH. There's a lot of different choices than what you suggest above.
  4. What kind of monster gives a flying [expletive] about Edmonds over Aramis? A MONSTER THAT NEEDS TO BE HUNTED DOWN AND DISPLAYED IN A MUSEUM.
  5. I assume this is Non-Edmonds category? [expletive] Edmonds. Funny side note, my buddy ran into him last night at the Cards game. He was being a total douche because he didn't want to deal with any fans, even though he considers himself a Cardinal still. What a turd. MORE DETAILS, DAMMIT. And please tell me there are pictures.
  6. Gotta love politics. Eh, I bet even Daley would have been on board after a development like this. A successful Cubs team means more money for the city, and the planned developments that they want to get done would just help maximize that money.

  8. I'm not saying I wouldn't do the swap; I just don't think it would happen in the first place. With most bad contract swaps each side can usually justify to themselves what they're getting in return (even if it is usually mistaken or overly generous). I just don't see that in Soriano. It's not like he's a headcase or someone that potentially needs a change of scenery; he's just a flawed, aging, declining baseball player.
  9. Yeah, if Ramirez was a middling earner throughout his career I would assume he would do what he could to cash out. He was making $6m at at 26 and has made at least $100m so far in his career. He's going to make a lot next year regardless of what kind of deal he signs, and he's given every indication that he's the type of guy that would like to a) play for the Cubs, b) play for a winning Cubs team, c) walk away when he's washed up, and d) accept a shorter term deal than the biggest one he could get. Sure, the strictly financial decision is going to mean he's gone, but assuming Theo wants him around, I'm guessing he can sell Ramirez on trying to win big sometime in the next 2 years with the Cubs. Exactly.
  10. C.C. is totally Fisher Stevens in Hackers.
  11. Your idea of fun is gross and creepy.
  12. Of course not. It's a done deal. http://images.wikia.com/en.futurama/images/d/da/Fry_Looking_Squint.jpg
  13. The general consensus of Soriano by fans and sports media is that he's an old, bad player signed to a bad contract.
  14. C.C., if you seriously think there's anything resembling a real chance this falls through due to compensation, please admit it right now.
  15. Which would make sense then, but I highly doubt Red Sox want money. They have no shortage of that. I'd think they'd want talent. And the Cubs could be saying "tough [expletive]; either take the money or get middling talent." This isn't a done deal, but it's pretty obviously beyond the point where the Red Sox scrap everything if the Cubs are insisting they get max compensation value via money as opposed to a player or players. Then the Red Sox say "[expletive] you! He's under contact and he needs to drag his ass back here!" It's tremendously unlikely that something like that happens at this point. I will say that politely once. ONCE.
  16. Me too. It's a long shot, but I'd love to see Aramis finish his career here for the right price/years. The guy has easily been my favorite long-term Cubs in my lifetime besides Sammy.

  18. But what good would Soriano be to them? I guess he'd be useful as a LH PH, but that's about it. It's not like the fans are demanding that Ortiz not be re-signed to DH, so the idea that they'd even consider someone like Soriano instead seems a bit...farfetched.
  19. Odds are he's pushing it towards a monetary resolution.
  20. Not necessarily. He could still get a better deal with the Cubs than getting that last year. Didn't he also have an opt-out clause after 2006?
  21. But not quite the perfection of Titanic that year. There's a Ben Affleck and Matt Damon-sized hole in that bit of trolling.
  22. If he's serious about wanting to stay if it looks like they're trying to contend maybe he'd be willing to sign on the (relative) cheap with the Theo pick and, ideally, a signing of Pujols or Fielder. He took a pretty decent discount before, so maybe he'd be willing to do again. Sure would be awesome. This is his chance at one last big contract. He's cashing out. Don't be too sure. Everyone expected him to either jump ship or break the bank if he came back for 2007 and neither happened.
