  1. Oh, son of a...Bautista is out with a wrist injury?
  2. That's not his hair; he cobbled it together from a drifter in the walk-in freezer in his basement.
  3. Was that the game when Theriot made that really stupid throw into the OF? Yup. Looking it up Marmol was actually charged with one of the runs, but he gave up 4 hits and a walk.
  4. Man, I was at Harden's first game, and it was insane. He strikes out 10 and leaves after 6 with a 7-0 lead...and the Cubs end up having to win it 8-7 in extras. Marmol wasn't charged with any of the runs, but he was horrendous.
  5. Not a [expletive] chance in the world.
  6. That's completely my thought. His walk totals have improved during this stretch. I don't know if he's flat out overhauling his hitting approach but if there was a season to experiment and not care how productive he currently is, it's this one. Definitely. Like I said, unless his hitting issues are health-based, I'm not concerned at all. This is a FO looking for the long term, and their dismissal of Jaramillo speaks volumes. Castro is likely always going to be an aggressive hitter because of his hitting ability, but it makes sense that they'd want to see what they can tweak or improve. This is the season to do it. Even if he doesn't have an offensive break out the rest of the year I'll consider it a success with the improved defense and baserunning plus the increased patience. The rest will come.
  7. Well, he's one of them, so he's lazy even when it comes to stuff like that.
  8. IS IT TOO LATE TO TAKE A FLYER?!?
  9. Shawn Camp is in, no? It was Yahoo; they didn't update it to show Reed until after had had struck out.
  10. Wait, why is Garza going back out? Or is Yahoo frozen and he's not actually taking his AB?
  11. Yeah, I wonder if it has anything to do with trying to shift him away from the previous regimes'/old hitting coach's overly aggressive approach. I wonnnnnnnnnnnnderrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  12. Unless it's injury-based I would recommend not worrying your darling little head about it.
  13. You're becoming concerning.
  14. Makes sense... having both Theo and Jed is gonna help but we're still going to need to make at least one move in the next week to ten days so we can get everything done we need to get done by the deadline. While the more rational Cubs fans eagerly await the commencing of the sale, I'm very curious to see how the, for lack of a better term meat headed fans react to a fire sale when the team is finally starting to play well for an extended stretch. What? Dempster and Garza have been talked about as being as good gone for a while now. The meatballs are well versed.
  15. A LOT of [expletive] counts. It's fun to see him hit, but man, he is swinging at nearly everything.
  16. Oh, I'm not arguing against him closing; I'm just not optimistic that he'll be very appealing as part of a trade.
  17. Eh, he's had a few good games, but several were similarly stressful like yesterday, where he managed to escape despite putting two guys on base and coming this close to giving up a game-tying home run. His velo is up to 95 again and his slider has been better, he'll cont. to have poor control but his numbers have been better since mid-June even with his Mitch Williams syndrome. I'm glad his K ratio is back to where it was when he was an all-star as it has been for about the last month. He's definitely shown improvement, but he's got a nasty contract plus a sustained period of mediocrity or worse to go along with a really violent delivery. Ideally, yes, I hope he can keep up what he's been doing until the offseason...I just have my doubts he'll be able to.
  18. Eh, he's had a few good games, but several were similarly stressful like yesterday, where he managed to escape despite putting two guys on base and coming this close to giving up a game-tying home run.
  19. They also might just be hedging their bets at a position that has seem pretty crappy production league-wide. If Vitters falters, hey, great, ideally they have someone else to turn to. If both look to be the real deal, hey, great, you've got a valuable asset in a major trade.
