Why would anyone give anything of significant value for Jackson at this point? Jackson might interest another team as part of a package deal. Explain why you think Fowler and Matzek are a good return for Garza.
Wait, what? You don't want them to go into next season expecting to lose, but you also want them to trade Soriano, DeJesus, Barney and Wood? Those guys aren't getting you good MLB-ready prospects in return.
And then trade Garza, Shields, and Sanchez at the deadline to get more prospects and start all over again. http://6358.s3.amazonaws.com/images/KickInTheNuts/KickInTheNuts.jpg
The Cowboys' O-line is probably as horrific as the Bears', and with as good as the Bears' defense is here you're really just going for the pessimism thing uber alles.
Maybe a couple of years ago, but I'm really souring on Cutler. Not in the sense of "oh man, he's a bum," but I think he's been derailed by being on such a poorly run/coached team. I guess I'm "souring" in the sense that this really feels like it's going to just end up being a wasted opportunity.
First base was manned by MVP LaHair those first few months, so I don't see our overall 1B production going up that much even if Rizzo improves (which I fully expect). LaHair put up insane numbers in the first month. May: .253 .343 .448 .792 June: .231 .286 .400 .686 Right, but he still had a .900 OPS when Rizzo took over. And? That was just a holdover from him hitting over 1.200 in April. I don't think we have to worry about the 1.8 WAR player outperforming the -0.2 WAR player.
It should be, but I feel like there's more downside than upside there. DeJesus and Soriano seem like Marlon Byrd candidates, and I think we've been burned enough assuming decent AAA numbers will translate long-term that I'm not completely sold on Castillo or Valbuena. Valbuena doesn't have to be anything besides a placeholder.

At that point, I'd just rather put Vitters in. Casey McGehee has been sub replacement the previous 2 years. I wouldn't bring him in to dance for nickels. Yeah, what the [expletive]?
