  1. The Cowboys' O-line is probably as horrific as the Bears', and with as good as the Bears' defense is here you're really just going for the pessimism thing uber alles.
  2. Well, that's kind of a crazy things to say.

  4. Maybe a couple of years ago, but I'm really souring on Cutler. Not in the sense of "oh man, he's a bum," but I think he's been derailed by being on such a poorly run/coached team. I guess I'm "souring" in the sense that this really feels like it's going to just end up being a wasted opportunity.
  5. Yeah, the guy's response was meatball-y, but I'd take Romo over Cutler, too.
  6. First base was manned by MVP LaHair those first few months, so I don't see our overall 1B production going up that much even if Rizzo improves (which I fully expect). LaHair put up insane numbers in the first month. May: .253 .343 .448 .792 June: .231 .286 .400 .686 Right, but he still had a .900 OPS when Rizzo took over. And? That was just a holdover from him hitting over 1.200 in April. I don't think we have to worry about the 1.8 WAR player outperforming the -0.2 WAR player.
  7. It should be, but I feel like there's more downside than upside there. DeJesus and Soriano seem like Marlon Byrd candidates, and I think we've been burned enough assuming decent AAA numbers will translate long-term that I'm not completely sold on Castillo or Valbuena. Valbuena doesn't have to be anything besides a placeholder.

  9. At that point, I'd just rather put Vitters in. Casey McGehee has been sub replacement the previous 2 years. I wouldn't bring him in to dance for nickels. Yeah, what the [expletive]?
  10. Yeah, it's great, but it's not why I'm a fan. I'm a fan of the end product. I'm old and cranky and set in my ways, so wake me up when the team doesn't stink.
  11. WE'RE NOT ASKING FOR THE WORLD.
  12. It would be nice to think that with Castro/Rizzo/Castillo/Barney/fountain of youth Soriano in the lineup they'd actually make an effort to not suck next year.
  13. What can I say? I also can't stand college sports for similar reasons; once they get to the pros, great. Before then I can't muster much beyond a passing interest. Before I came here and could follow the minor league forum I basically paid zero attention to the minors unless we're talking someone like Prior. I really just don't care because most of them amount to zilch.
  14. Rizzo! Sappelt? No, wait, that one guy!
  15. I don't care in that I find them really, really, really boring. I appreciate the process and the hoped for end result, but I'm not going to pretend that I find it anything but tedious.
  16. For me it's because I'm a fan of the Cubs. I honestly don't give a damn about the drafts and the prospects and the farm teams. I understand the importance and hope to God this works out, but the process is [expletive] unbearable and awful and the worst thing ever.
  17. Most of the draft picks will amount to [expletive], so whatever. Yes, I get the value of #2 over #5; it's still depressing as hell that this team is so bad and will be again next year and the end result is a collection of new players who will mostly fade away into the ether. I just want the small joy of watching them win a game right now.
  18. All of those players were younger than Soriano is now by at least 4 years when they were traded. Plus there are actually other options out there when it comes to OF FA, even with the FA class being pretty crappy overall. It's not that it's impossible to trade him, but it seems many are overstating how easy they think it is and how much the Cubs could get back.
  19. If the Dave Sappelt bandwagon crashes and nobody is around to hear it, does it still make a sound? Yes. Like someone stepped on a duck.
  20. No, you're boring; this is about your posts.
  21. Can we shower Wrigley with print-outs of Kyle's posts to show them how dire the situation is with a team this bad?
  22. I'LL GIVE SOMEONE $40 FOR THEIR LAST TRANSACTION.
