didn't you want pujols too? Of course. I could have wanted Ugmar the Mountain Troll and it wouldn't negate the sucking of letting Cespedes get away. Having Cespdes changes things drastically for 2013; yeah, 2012 wouldn't have been much better, but going forward with Castro/Rizzo/Castillo/Cespedes/Barney/DeJesus/Reborn Soriano would have made the planning in this offseason much less depressing. Go sign Upton, figure out how to Band-Aid 3B for the time being and hey, you've got yourself a respectable lineup for 2013. *Sigh*

I can't. I can only see that it perhaps has. It's a plausible explanation for why we fielded so many awful players, especially the bullpen. So, in other words, you were just saying things. I was going to make a comment on the Chicago Cubs baseball team, and that comment was a thing that I said. You mean the team that hasn't been to a World Series since 1945, since that is as much a relevant point to this discussion about the new FO as is inexplicably bringing up the team's recent playoff history. You're the hated looper, Kyle, not them.

Yet the FO has had a good track record of finding value in the past, so are you really worried that they've somehow forgotten how to do that? Of course not.

I count 11 of them as coming from outside the organization, including Hill and Lopez as re-signs. How many actually contributed a -1.0 WAR (or worse) on their own? Dolis, Germano, Volstad Clevenger, Vitters, Mather That's about what I expected.

There's really no excuse for Mather being on the roster: he'd been garbage for the two years prior to 2012. I wouldn't say it's a huge deal, because who the [expletive] is going to predict a -2.0 WAR? Offensively he was in line with his expected turdiness, but his defense apparently fell off of a cliff.

"Crummy 2012" is putting it gently. I still can't believe he managed a -2.0 WAR season. Even Neifi only managed that once in his career.
