  1. Everyone rubs it in that the Cubs suck because the Cubs suck. If that's your criteria then you might as well hate everyone.
  2. Normally I'd have no problem with the Reds winning it, but man, not under Dusty. If he dies before it happens, however, then it's totally cool.
  3. He is the community outreach executive for the Astros. Saw him at the draft this year. Quite a few people brought him up here, me included, but I guess he just decided to stay away for health reasons. What did he have during that Padres game, an aneurysm? That final press conference was pretty intense, and I remember an interview afterwards where he sounded really burned out. right, but that was in 1999. he recovered to manage later that year and then managed the astros in 2000 and 2001. maybe he's just attached to that area and the organization, but on paper he'd look like a guy who was successful, had good ideas and should have managed another ballclub. The press conference and interview I was talking about were after the 2001 season. He sounded pretty fed up with being a manager.
  4. No. They stink.
  5. Of course they could have, and it was thought by many he could easily have a first season like this. What a ridiculous thing to say.
  6. Just Fred. OLD JOKE.
  7. The first half was a trap. No. For them. Yes.
  8. The first half was a trap. No.
  9. Man, you've got this, the Packers and Cardinals losing...this is an orgy of Sunday deliciousness.
  10. Briggs, you sexy man-mountain.

  12. Here's your new sig: http://thewvsr.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/waffle.jpg But wait! Tell us more about how you figured out that they signed Paul Maholm with the intention of trading him if he had a decent year! Then explain why a good team wouldn't have done the same thing!
  13. Yeah, no kidding; that's this close to someone screaming a defense of RBI as an important stat.
  14. Why is Fat Hoss here talking like cracked a code Nicholas Cage-style or some [expletive].
  15. Maybe he thinks SF is playing over their heads and are going to fall apart in the playoffs. He could be a GENIUS.
  16. I'm definitely picking Soriano for the Quiz Bowl instead of Rose.
  17. didn't you want pujols too? Of course. I could have wanted Ugmar the Mountain Troll and it wouldn't negate the sucking of letting Cespedes get away. Having Cespdes changes things drastically for 2013; yeah, 2012 wouldn't have been much better, but going forward with Castro/Rizzo/Castillo/Cespedes/Barney/DeJesus/Reborn Soriano would have made the planning in this offseason much less depressing. Go sign Upton, figure out how to Band-Aid 3B for the time being and hey, you've got yourself a respectable lineup for 2013. *Sigh*
  18. Ugh, I just looked at his stats and wanted to fight the world.
  19. The Cespedes thing gnaws at my soul.
  20. I can't. I can only see that it perhaps has. It's a plausible explanation for why we fielded so many awful players, especially the bullpen. So, in other words, you were just saying things. I was going to make a comment on the Chicago Cubs baseball team, and that comment was a thing that I said. You mean the team that hasn't been to a World Series since 1945, since that is as much a relevant point to this discussion about the new FO as is inexplicably bringing up the team's recent playoff history. You're the hated looper, Kyle, not them.

  22. The internet doesn't work like that. Now explain how "the market" has somehow negated the FO's ability to recognize useful cheap players.
