  1. Ugh, no. The Knicks deserve nothing but misery, now and forever.
  2. sure, it was only like 2 or 3 years ago that he randomly got good. any reliever with a glimmer of promise can bounce around for a while. Oh, no I remember him having a couple good years, but then he didn't pitch in 2011 and I didn't recall ever seeing his name last year; lo and behold he logged a single inning for the Yankees.
  3. ' Stupid [expletive] were trying it in the bleachers last night. Yeah, what the [expletive]? I actually saw it pass behind home plate last night. Is this Tree's fault?
  4. awesome I'm not sure what's funnier, the player's reaction when he realizes the ball was caught, or the opposing team's reaction to the premature celebration. So much greatness, though he deserves credit for a truly outstanding bat flip.
  5. HE NEEDS PLAYING TIME. WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING.
  6. I actually want him with Team USA. I'd rather him not be tentative at all when the real games start. Plus, I think that's a good way for him to measure his game against the best in the world, rather than preseason games that nobody cares about. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but that's how I feel. Hell, I can't imagine why anyone who isn't a meatball wouldn't want him playing ASAP, even if it is goofy Team USA [expletive].
  7. Len & JD are the best; the riffing on Josh Outman's name was so dorkily awesome.
  8. I was actually thinking if he can keep up this pace until midseason, he'd be a perfect option to trade. With as much team control as he has left and as well as he's pitching (in traditional numbers), we could turn one limited upside arm into 2-3 pretty good (or maybe very good considering we have Theo) arms. I'm pretty skeptical given his incredible luck so far that he's any more than a decent back of the rotation arm (basically my opinion hasn't changed of him since the offseason) so I don't think dealing him would hurt the ML roster that much and, in the right deal, it would help bolster the minor leagues some. Well, you need to actually have a ML rotation. Sure, listen to offers and you get one that's too good to miss you should take it, but a decent back of the rotation of the arm can be too valuable to trade, especially when your pitching options are as slim as the Cubs' are right now.
  9. PIXIE DU-....oh.
  10. TREE, I'MA BE THERE WATCHING YOU AND BLOWING KISSES AT RIZZO.
  11. What you call tripping over myself to make a point, I simply call backing up my point with information. It was 2011, and it wasn't meant to be a direct comparison. Since we were imagining going forward two years, I thought it'd be interesting to go back two years. Well that's certainly arbitrary. Let's look ahead 6 years and look back 6! How about 4? Maybe 3.8. I'm sure all of these things would mean things.
  12. No [expletive]; I'm not disagreeing with the obvious point that there's a ton of fluctuation when it comes to pitchers panning out. I'm pointing out how terrible a comparison 2009 is. It's like you're constantly tripping over yourself to make a point over and over and over again.
  13. You say that like Zambrano didn't have a massive track record of issues leading up to that point, like there wasn't a ton of doubt about Wells' ability to stick around the entire time he was with the team. Plus you're throwing Cashner out there like he wasn't moved for an upgrade, much as you did when you pointed out moving Marshall when they traded him for a...starting pitcher. Whoa, weird how things can work like that. Terrible example, Kyle. 2004 would have been much better. Nobody looked at the 2011 rotation and thought the Cubs were anywhere remotely near set, and it doesn't compare to the position they're in right now.
  14. The Nationals have an excellent rotation and didn't need to sign someone like him going forward right now. The White Sox didn't have the money. Are you saying that you think there's something beyond his actual numbers/performance that should have kept the Cubs away? Or makes the fourth year a problem? This isn't a bad contract at all.
  15. Surely a Barney HR is an omen if epic things to come.
  16. But supposedly they want to extend Garza. Boy I hope not. They can probably get him pretty cheap, and the pickings are pretty damn bare both in house and on the FA market.
  17. He's just doing that to make me feel better.
