  1. probably for the better since he already has a couple kids Maybe's Theo's grotesque long term plan is to have inspired a bunch of Cubs players to have massive broods of children that he can try and Marinovich into some kind of creepy team of Stepford-style baseball savants.
  2. Dammit. I hate it when I have a nagging suspicion that a player might be slipping into a slump. Rizzo over the last week going in to today's game: .227 .292 .364 .655
  3. fixed But Adam Lambert is also good at what he does.
  4. Alright, I'm right back on the BOTE SUCKS BandWGN.
  5. It would be cool if he and Yu didn't feel the urge to cap off awesome outings with ye olde, "hey, 3 runs still counts as a quality start!"
  6. I wish this guy pitched more like Christopher Lambert.
  7. Descalso's stupid mugshot makes it look like he's dying of jaundice and consumption.
  8. Don't back down: that guy fought and DIDN'T DIE for your right to say he sucks.
  9. It is! But in a very shaky bullpen missing any kind of real power arm, I can't help but be wary when a dude not only stops getting as many ground balls, but also isn't striking out nearly as many guys, too. Relying too much on, "oh, I'll just get them to fly out," seems a bit iffy for a guy who has struggled with giving up dongs. He's definitely better than he was and a serviceable reliever is a godsend at this point; I just think it's a bit premature for anything along the lines of a declaration that he's fixed.
  10. To add to your dislike, a gentle reminder that Russell is playing at a ~4 fWAR pace extrapolated to 500 PAs. Descalso will be lucky to get to above replacement level. [expletive] TO ALL OF THAT.
  11. Same. If someone told me Steve Buechele played 3B for the Cubs for a decade, I probably wouldn't even blink. I know what you mean but if it really was Buechele for 10 years that doesn't check out with the Cubs trying literally everyone they could think of at 3rd. For example, Delino DeShields and somebody named Shane. Right; I just remember it as a parade of nondescript white dudes for whatever reason. You could tell me any one of them was there for years.
  12. Decent, but his strike out and groundball rates are still pretty disappointing given what he's done in the past. Promising, to be sure, but it's not like he's back to his old self.
  13. WHERE HAVE ALL THE SEALBOYS GONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNE....
  14. I typically associate that era of Cub third basemen with milquetoast white dudes: Vance Law, Steve Buechele, Todd Zeile, Kevin Orie. Same. If someone told me Steve Buechele played 3B for the Cubs for a decade, I probably wouldn't even blink.
  15. Descalso makes me dislike him even more by how he forces the creeping desire to rather see Russell start over him. What an absurdly useless ballplayer. Descalso this season: .197 .287 .295 Aaron Miles in 2009: .185 .224 .242
  16. Poorly worded maybe but it's not that bad of a question. Who started calling him that, when he started embracing it, etc. are par for the course as far as lame non-baseball questions. I think we can give this person the benefit of the doubt and assume that they weren't interested in the etymology.
  17. Man, it feels like Cishek has been struggling for a while
  18. No excuse to not start Bote against all RH pitchers going forward.
  19. JUST START THE [expletive] INNING WITH CARL, YOU DRUNKEN OAF.
  20. DP saved the day, but Schwarber really shouldn't have still been in the game.
