  1. yeah, the OF being a problem offensively for the last 2 1/2 years has been a fairly large concern. sure, they have a better lineup than the likes of the Marlins, Giants, insert bum team name here, etc. but amongst the contenders in baseball, the Cubs OF has to be considered one of the worst. shame on us for wanting a team with billions of dollars to put out better hitters in their lineup. Adam Jones was available for a cheap deal to start the season, but....PTR I keep telling myself that Michael Brantley HAD to go to a team with a DH option to help myself sleep at night.
  2. Man, beast mode Lester is in effect. Please stick around.

  4. Lester's had the longest AB so far against Trevor Cahill. Yeeeesh.
  5. BUT...at least Lester has looked snazzy again so far.
  6. When I point out something along the lines of how the Cubs have Baez-Rizzo-Bryant-Contreras and then a whole bunch of trash heaps, there's usually a reply along the lines of, "oh, how terrible they ONLY have four really good hitters," like it's ridiculous to expect the Cubs to have a better lineup. But look at how they play these guys; it's because they know if a couple, or even just one of these guys are out of the lineup, they're screwed. And look at other teams like the Astros and the Yankees have been riddled with injuries up and down, including to key players, yet they're able to take that weight because of how much significantly better their teams are constructed than the Cubs'. Basically this whole "keep playing guys even though they're clearly hurt" thing is dumb and a bad, bad sign.
  7. I just sent SSR a PM since even though he's been on a bunch, apparently he didn't see that he's next. Banedon, if he doesn't show in the next half hour or so, go for it.
  8. He'll be our 2019 Nomar, except somehow we all ruin our groins instead.
  9. Too bad that poor CarGo is joining the Cubs.
  10. Yeah seriously, our OF is desperate for guys who can put up an .830-.850 OPS Sadly liked.
  11. Hahahaha “I horsefeathering HATE THIS SO MUCH ILL MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY WITH ........indifference” [expletive], this post only managed to get even weirder.
  12. Maddon saw what the umpire cabal did to Zobrist after he said he wanted robot umps. He's watching his ass before they get him, too.
  13. That's the big appeal for me; I'm all for trading what few prospects they have, but doing it for relievers is lame as hell. If you're going to empty the cupboard, do it for a bat or a starting pitcher, and not for some damn relief pitchers. Just spend the money, you cheap jerks.
  14. I believe in his beautiful bat; salvage that goodness by plugging him in to LF.
  15. I think Contreras is on board with this idea...
  16. SSR, the game thread is now yours...if you dare.
  17. Descalso did something useful, Schwarber got a fluke hit with someone on base...surely the miraculous will happen now and the Cubs will get a hit with RISP, right?
  18. Hamels has only thrown 84 pitches...so Joe PH Descalso for him with nobody on because of....reasons, I guess?
  19. That seems like an astoundingly pointless split.
