  1. http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/764/lillymolina.gif Impossibly badass. Lilly's dead-eyed psycho-face ruled.

  3. You're annoyed that the FO didn't somehow force a deal to put the Yankees over the luxury tax?
  4. We got $6M of salary relief and a prospect that is somewhat interesting and Soriano's current production wouldn't be that difficult to replace in LF. Yeah, the deal is sounding much better than it initially did.
  5. That was like one step above a WSR post.
  6. Way to hog 25% of the baseball posts, you jerk.
  7. So what? Nobody was ever arguing that Bonds wasn't using a mountain of PEDs, or that it didn't help him. The whole Bonds tangent was in response to Wilson's ridiculous idea that we don't know for sure whether or not Bonds was a HOF-worthy or "once in a generation talent" before he started using. You subtract his "steroid years" and he is still easily and obviously both of those things.
  8. I'm annoyed that the Ted Lilly Fan Club site is gone.
  9. Yeah, man, NSBB's really slacking when it comes to getting in on all the torrent of Cubs' discussion topics right now.
  10. Why in God's name would anyone be trying to convince Kyle to stick around?
  11. Well, you it's tough to be patient when you're scrambling to post an argument THAT good.
  12. Plus he (and his meatball haters) inspired the greatest thread in NSBB history.
  13. Yeah, great attitude and seemingly works his ass off, yet the guy has the tag of being lazy (largely because of when he was slowed down by injuries/age, being afraid of a brick wall and because he's brown and fans are racist assholes). Always got a kick out of his attitude, especially, as UMFan pointed out, his interactions with fans in the LF, and his interactions with fans in general. It would have been real easy for a guy that often made the villain to be standoff-ish or a straight up dick to the press and the fans, but he made himself available a lot. I've seen him signing autographs and posing for pictures a lot whenever I've showed up early. As stupid as it was where you had fans booing him at times for literally every out he made, I was at Wrigley for several of his 2-HR games (and one 3-HR game) and those were some of my favorite memories of Cubs games because people just went nuts over him and when he went on those tears it felt like he could hit anything.
  14. he's not wrong There are days, days of data that prove you wrong. Hahahahahahaah!
  15. Meh return. I'll miss the guy. He was at the gate my dad and I entered at RFK Stadium on a player meet & greet day and he gave us a big laugh and a "who knows?" when we said he should sign with the Cubs. The actual deal was pretty appalling from day 1, but still came with a sense of excitement where I was really hoping the Cubs were putting on their big boy pants when it came to spending like the big market team they are (yeah, the sale stuff was looming in the background, but still). He's had some VERY frustrating stretches, but overall I liked him as a Cub and I loved how he drove the meatballs insane.
  16. Devil metal birds. If I go the rest of my life without ever flying again I will die a happy man.
  17. I promised whatever god there is that I would start going to church if Aramis came through in the Brewers game. That I did not actually live up to that promise is probably why they've been doomed to suck or something.
  18. Keith Law really hates Junior. I know it's just Law being Law, but I still think it's his way of blowing off steam at 2-3 years worth of Cubs fans bombarding him with questions about Lake and then lashing back at him when he's suggest that he was anything short of a mega-prospect. Nobody expects him to keep up anything remotely resembling his pace, but not a very good player is quite a stretch. It's fun watching him right now, but he could very easily end up stinking.
  19. Nice management by Samadzija to minimize a really shitty situation.
  20. Jackson's not good enough to get that kind of return. Just repeat the hypothetical trade discussions in regards to Travis Wood, except now do it with an older pitcher having a bad year and who is a LOT more expensive.
  21. It would have to take a overpay to trade him, imo. He still has a year of team control, iirc. We still need to field a team next year and it's not like the minor leaugers will be ready to break through to fill his spot. Yeah, that too; trading Hairston and now with it looking like Soriano being gone I'd be very surprised if they move Schierholtz. I never understand why anyone would bring up Valbuena as being trade bait right now; despite the prospect parade they don't have anyone to replace him now and nobody to replace him at the beginning of next season. He's young, he's cheap and he's productive in a position of need; no need to move him yet.
  22. Some part of me still believes this team can make a run at .500. All it would take is some good production from the 5th spot in the rotation, IMO. If Valbuena, Schierholtz, and Soriano are traded then it's probably not going to happen - but if Lake keeps it up, it could easily happen. Guerrier and Strop have made the pen ten times better. Seriously doubt that they're going to trade Valbuena.
