  1. this bar in carbondale did (still does?) "tin can tuesdays" and gave you a punch card with 30 american-style adjunct lagers. if you drank them all, you got a t-shirt. there were regional specialties such as schaefer and stag(lol), as well as northern powerhouses like hamm's, stroh's, and blatz. people can make all the contrived reasons they want, but the style of beer is just junk (literally junk brewed with the cheapest cereal grains that money can buy and blended so people don't notice the differences batch-to-batch). all of those brands are probably owned by millercoors now, not because they made an inferior product, but because they didn't pay enough for advertising. anyone who claims to enjoy the watery, metallic, seltzer qualities of those beers has bad taste Yup. It's one of those things where I don't think there's anything subjective about the experience; it's just horrible and anyone who says they like it is lying.
  2. This is a great question. Jason Collins is/was a marginal player so one can turn a blind eye to him not being signed (I think he is still an NBA caliber player but obviously he was not a star). Kerry Rhodes is much much better and isn't getting any interest for him even though he isn't even out. Bizarre and upsetting. This is some [expletive] horse [expletive]. I'd tell the NFL to eat a dick, but that's too good for them.
  3. I don't have to hope he was making the jacking off-motion behind the podium while he said that because in my heart I know it to be true.
  4. Kyle is [expletive] D-Man if he's lucky. Never forget (how much he sucks). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demolition_Man_(comics)
  5. Holy [expletive], is BJ Upton dying?
  6. Alright, calm down. It is a Chicago beer brand. It's readily available throughout NY and NJ and for that I am thankful, because it is good and I enjoy it. There are better choices that are actually still made in Chicago. Most of which would be insanely expensive, even relative to Wrigley's usual wallet-gouging.
  7. because before, it only sort of needed to pay out big? Pretty much. I seriously doubt the Plan involved Shark, Castro and Rizzo all looking this unimpressive this year. It's not like anyone should give up on them, but it doesn't bode well. It's pretty obvious that those guys panning out is a pretty huge part of the plan. Plus I'm a believer in the "the FO found out about the Ricketts' broken wallet after the fact" theory, which just adds more to the necessity of more of the prospects paying off.
  8. Nah, never got the PBR resurgence. That's on some nasty Natty Ice/Milwuakee's Best-level [expletive]. Now the one minor resurgence I DO get is the "classic brew" Schlitz or whatever they're calling it. Nothing great, but definitely a good ballpark/sittin' around/mowing the lawn beer that I wouldn't mind seeing show up.
  9. Wiffle ball. I don't think this pitch got the love it deserves. I think I love Yu Darvish like Nuts&Gum loves Yoennis Cespedes. Easily one of my favorite players to watch. I love Yu and Yoennis equally: from afar and with tears in my eyes.
  10. Christ, baseball players can really be a bunch of whiny babies sometimes.
  11. Well, there's a lot of information out there that seems to be pointing to the Ricketts being a lot more financially tied up than was previously thought.
  12. Ehhhhhhhhhh...the farm system basically REALLY has to pay out big at this point. All of the money talk makes it sound like they're in a really precarious position, especially with the few current big league players they need to be good looking like garbage.
  13. Goose Island is good stuff; this is a clear upgrade.
  14. Lord, I hate Old Style. Much like Harry Caray, it's an out of town, sub-par product embraced and adored by meatballs.
  15. As if Castro and Rizzo having meh to terrible years wasn't spirit crushing enough. So basically none of the three core guys the Cubs really need to pan out looked all that great (or much, much worse) this year...fantastic.
  16. Man, that's a depressing "core."
  17. SECONDED.
  18. I'll always be upset with the Ricketts for not being Mark Cuban. Plus Tom has a weird, creepy manbabyface.
  19. Castillo with a solo HR to center for his 2nd HR of the night. 8-0.
  20. Lake robbed of an RBI and his 3rd hit on that call.
  21. Murphy continues his sorcery and ends up with his 3rd RBI of the night off of a double.
  22. the pitcher did make a pretty good fake of cutting it off Yeah, but Castro is fast enough that as soon as it was past the pitcher the 1B coach should have been sending him. It was obvious it was going to be a bang-bang play at the plate, so odds were that the catcher wasn't going to be able to throw out someone at 2B.
