  1. Well, the team is in a position right now where that's apparently that's primary source of what they're going to pick up via FA or trades, so, yeah, it's frustrating when it doesn't pan out with guys a bunch of us would have liked to have seen them get. I know it seems like it's just people like me bitching and overreacting, but actual non-horrible posters wanted these guys, too.
  2. Both guys repeatedly came up as ideal targets for the Cubs this offseason on this board, so let's not act like it's a bunch of people being disappointed out of nowhere and over nothing.
  3. Any of the people who think there was more than one shooter care to explain? It's one thing to think that there was a different shooter or that there was a conspiracy behind the shooter, but there is literally not a single bit of physical evidence of a second shooter (or more).
  4. Just name after name getting crossed off...this offseason is really gonna suck, isn't it?
  5. Bummer begat bummer. This is baseball hell. I blame sulley.
  6. If the Nets or Knicks don't rebound, I would say this regular season is pretty meaningful. Getting that #1 seed is important so you only have to face one of the Big 3 in the playoffs rather than two. Sure, but they just won 5 in a row. They lost last night largely because Deng was wretched; it happens.
  7. It's true, this one game hold infinitely more weight than the five game winning streak. DAMN YOU, SAMPLE SIZES. One good win in that stretch. Ah, gotcha.
  8. It's true, this one game hold infinitely more weight than the five game winning streak. DAMN YOU, SAMPLE SIZES.
  9. This is some kind of Stockholm Syndrome.
  10. Bring your conspiracy theories to me so I may smite them.
  11. Plus even when the Cubs have their own channel they'd still be showing up on ESPN and the MLB Network.
  12. WGN pays them horribly and they're barely on it nationally like they used to be. It's well past time to move on.
  13. That team also did not make the playoffs. Also? The pessimist in me is not expecting this year's to make it, too.
  14. Yeah, that was some hccf-style goodness right there.
  15. So does he actually mean "homophobic?" Or was he trying to say "homoerotic?" Either way...delightful.
  16. OK, now I like where this is going.
  17. No, it won't. The Cubs' goal is to have their own network; that would be their goal even if everyone at Comcast was on their knees every time they mentioned the team. If the Cubs leave CSN it's to make more money, not because Chuck Garfien is making them cry themselves to sleep every night with his mean, mean words.
  18. He's just driving past each one clicking scissors like that dude from The Warriors with the bottles.
  19. That team also did not make the playoffs.
  20. Flashing Letterman got me That was Drew, not Diaz.
  21. The point is that your theory of a nefarious effort to insult the Cubs on-air to drive fans to the Sox doesn't really make much sense given that the Cubs' owners own a bug chunk of the network. Reinsdorf can't just do whatever he wants because he owns a 40% stake (nevermind that he seemingly is doing nothing to stop the network from insulting his own teams...UNLESS THAT'S PART OF HIS PLAN).
  22. Hahahahahah!
  23. Don't make fun of the Cubs?!? THEY DOCK YA!!!
  24. tom: pleeeease, jerry, please let the cubs' comeback win lead sportsnet central tonight. jerry: never. [to producer] move the cubs highlights to after the first commercial. and change all the graphics to read "scrubs." tom: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO The whole things plays out like Paul Newman meeting Tim Robbins in The Hudsucker Proxy.
