  1. As a kid my mom tried to ban my brother and I from watching that show because of that scene.
  2. These are truly the end times. All dead here.
  3. Hahahahahaah!
  4. Yeah, no [expletive]. Had no idea he had such a solid season. I'd want longer than a 2-3 year extension though, if I'm trading for him though. At least if the 2016 stuff is true. Plus, I'd still prefer Arizona or Pittsburgh as a Shark trading partner to Toronto. Even if Archie or Taillon aren't included. Yeah, I had no idea he performed like that. I nearly did a double-take looking him up.
  5. Sure could've fooled me. Not a difficult thing to do. You really think the Ricketts weren't planning/hoping to have the renovations underway at this point and the new ad revenue in place?
  6. A Prior jersey and a couple road greys, a pinstripe and one of the dark blue retro ones with the cub holding a bat. Every other sport looks horrible.
  7. Unless he's traded soon, this could be a wilder winter roller coaster than Roberts, Peavy, and Garza. You're right, there's been a whole 3 pages on a dying message board about this...it's going to surpass those behemoths in no time.
  8. I agree, but I refuse to believe that they are trying to lose on purpose. I thought we were getting a front office that was supposed to excel at scouting and drafting. Almost any team can get good draft picks early in the draft and if tanking was their purpose they have sucked at it. We have yet to get the #1 overall pick so far. I'm guessing they were mislead by the Ricketts regarding the financial situation when they signed on. I think they did expect to have a crappy season or two and then the upgrades to Wrigley knocked everything into limbo and they were just sorta stuck for the time being while the Ricketts figure out what the hell they're going to do money-wise. As soon as they can actually put up the new signs and the video boards and whatever you'll likely see some more movement.
  9. That along with his approach at the plate and a relative surplus of catching alternatives on the market are reasons I'm okay with trading Castillo, but in this case I feel like i'm shoe-horning it in to fit Detroit's needs. My point is more that if you're going to trade him and only get average to slightly above average guys in return, it's probably preferable to get some guys who are under control for more than 2 years. It also has the side benefit of not taking you out of the running for some bigger FAs, as the deal I outlined above adds about ~10 million for next year. If we're cutting payroll relative to last year, you're pretty much staking your offseason to those guys. Not terrible, but not awesome. Good points.
  10. How many catchers along Castillo's lines actually end up being long term assets? It's probably the post-Soto experience talking, but I'm really a big fan of selling relatively high on him since he is a catcher.
  11. People "appreciate" it just fine; a lot of us think it's an issue of the Ricketts suffering some pretty serious setbacks in terms of their financial planning and everything is paying the price because of it. I highly doubt that anyone's plan was just to just shrug off three or more entire seasons of baseball; that sounds like the exact opposite of a sound business plan.
  12. Yeah, he's clearly hiding some cyborg upgrades under all of those sleeves.
  13. Make sure to factor in the fact that his advisors probably won't let him take the court until he's mentally ready. And I don't even think I'm being snarky...any planning toward what to do or expect for the rest of the season is completely in limbo. Snark away; the sad reality is he's an idiot with idiots in his ear and we've already seen the result of it.
  14. Absolutely nothing absurd about exploring different scenarios on paper and assigning weighted probablities to see what decisions bubble up. Scenario planning is a tool used by many in and out of baseball. I totally agree with you Hoops. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GNKcJP7dZ6A/SsFZHlF9ETI/AAAAAAAACjc/tBZvq32399E/s400/godfather_07_0810081442_id_176569.jpg
  15. It's better, but not by much; the team is still effectively in limbo yet again and with all kinds of questions as to what he's going to be like coming back.
  16. I don't know if we will know until the surgery. I think some are worse than others. Chris Paul took 8 weeks, I think. Didn't Westbrook have two surgeries? Dammit, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FEEL.
  17. Isn't that what Westbrook was dealing with? So that's, what, at least 6 months?
  18. http://www.fodrizzle.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Derrick-Rose-Doesnt-Dance.gif Dude shoulda been more willing to stretch it out.
  19. Stacey King was prophetic. Jimmy the Greek's revenge from beyond the graaaaaaaaave.
  20. All bets are off if he's injured that badly.
  21. Ummmmm...PRETTY different circumstances.
  22. Why does this gscool guy sound so familiar?

  24. I liked that Young was pretty damn good for three seasons before 2013 and that the one time that young Borjous has played anything close to a full season he was a 5+ WAR player. I didn't say anything like this was yet another one of Ricketts's [expletive] ups so much as just disappointing that for different reasons (where Young wanted to play and what was wanted in a trade for Borjous) they didn't match up with the Cubs. Not everything has to be a clown car debacle from the ownership yet again for it to be disappointing.
