(Keeper doesn't count.) Actually the keeper does count because the rule is there have to be two players between the ball and the goal. It's just usually the goalie is in the goal so he almost always counts as one defender.

    Jesus, Sandberg. Not that it should matter, because it's a poor managerial move regardless, but didn't he have some sort of arm/shoulder trouble going into the year? He missed the first month of the season due to shoulder issues and has made 9 starts since then. These games include a 133 pitch outing(career high) and back to back games with 125 pitches. Sandberg also had Roberto Herandez throw 99 pitches in a start on May 9th and then come back on May 11th to try and save a game. Cliff Lee has made 10 starts this year, in 8 of those he has thrown at least 100 pitches. In 4 of them has thrown 114 or more including a 128 pitch outing on April 16th. His pitch counts over his last 7 starts. 128,113,89,106,100,114,116. Holy [expletive] [expletive]. He's a monster.
